Pat's coomments sound kind of like the religious equivalent of "Dis is a real nice place you got here. Be a shame if something was to happen to it..."

Pat Robertson as Religious Mafia Enforcer.

Good God
I was just speaking with God. He said have faith in science, the teachings of logic and natural explanations and that you are all a bunch of assclowns.

Liberal Media?

We all know Fox News and the Washington Post are conservative. The most criticized news organization for being liberal is NPR yet the Center for Public Broadcasting is run by Bush drones. The media was liberal years ago; however the wealthy conservatives have since taken over. Just because the truth hurts conservatives doesn't mean it is liberal propaganda.

I wonder how many 700 Club members who donate tons of money to Mr. Robertson were affected by Katrina's wrath of God.

And people wonder why organized religion disgusts me. sheesh!

Well Pat thought the forest fires in CA were an act of God to punish them for being a Blue state. What are his thoughts on the terrible natural disasters in those gulf coast Red states?

White House criticizes Pat Robertson

January 6, 2006

WASHINGTON --The White House sharply criticized Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson on Friday for suggesting that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's stroke was divine punishment for "dividing God's land."

"Those comments are wholly inappropriate and offensive and really don't have a place in this or any other debate," presidential spokesman Trent Duffy said as Bush traveled to Chicago for a speech.

Robertson made his comments about Israel and Sharon on his TV program, "The 700 Club." He said, "God considers this land to be his. You read the Bible and he says `This is my land,' and for any prime minister of Israel who decides he is going to carve it up and give it away, God says, `No, this is mine.'"

Sharon, who ordered Israel's withdrawal from Gaza last year, suffered a severe stroke on Wednesday.

Israel won't do business with Pat Robertson after the U.S. Christian Evangelist said Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's massive stroke was divine punishment for Israel's withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, an official said Wednesday, placing a USD 50 million deal with the Christian leader in doubt.

Robertson, a Christian broadcaster, is leading a group of evangelicals who have collected money to build a Christian Heritage Center in Israel's northern Galilee region, where tradition says Jesus lived and taught.

Israel was to provide the land and infrastructure for the project, saying it would bring millions of tourism dollars into the country. But the project now is in doubt in light of Robertson's comments, said Ido Hartuv, spokesman for Tourism Minister Avraham Hirschson.

"We will not do business with him, only with other evangelicals who don't back these comments," Hartuv said. "We will do business with other evangelical leaders, friends of Israel, but not with him."

(Manassas, Virginia-AP) January 22, 2006 - The Reverend Pat Robertson has canceled his scheduled speech at next month's National Religious Broadcasters convention in Dallas.

Robertson made the decision after meeting with NRB leaders. Robertson was to have spoken at the closing banquet, but NRB leaders worried that the furor over his remarks linking Ariel Sharon's stroke to Israel's withdrawal from Gaza could detract from the convention's focus.

Ministry leader Henry Blackaby is scheduled to speak in his place.

Robertson, who has apologized to Sharon's family, told NRB leaders that he regrets the negative impact his remarks have had on other religious broadcasters, and is taking steps to avoid such controversies in the future.

NRB President Frank Wright says Robertson wasn't asked to cancel his speech, but sent a follow-up letter citing other demands on his time.

In an era when conservative Christians enjoy access and influence throughout the federal government, the organization that fueled their rise has fallen on hard times.

The once-mighty Christian Coalition, founded 17 years ago by the Rev. Pat Robertson as the political fundraising and lobbying engine of the Christian right, is more than $2 million in debt, beset by creditors' lawsuits and struggling to hold on to some of its state chapters.

Robertson has a history of making wild predictions that don't come near the mark. However, he was predicting 150 dollar/barrel oil... so he's already come close on one point.

From an article: Here's the prediction: God has economic disaster in store for us: A deep recession, $150-a-barrel oil, a tumbling dollar. All of this will lead to a major stock market crash in 2009 or '10...
