Hello, ma'am, this is the police...

The teenager across the street was killed in a car accident. The police arrived to notify the family and the 9 year old daughter answered the door. The cops told the little girl what happened and were gone before the child's mother came to the door.

Geez that's even worse. Don't they have classes for this in cop school?

Is common decency something cops need to be taught? Shouldn't it be inherent in the hiring process?

A lot of times we'll try to find out if the family went to church and then take their pastor with us to do the notification, then we'll answer any questions about the investigation. We were specifically told in cadet school not to call them on the phone.

I had a bank give me the name of a dead guy as the contact for a property inspection. I called for him a couple of times and got his daughter who didn’t seem to be forwarding my messages. On the third or forth try, I got his wife. She said my calls had really freaked out the little girl. The bank was well aware that he had been murdered a couple of years earlier. I think they were using me to harass his widow because the loan was in workout. #&%!$ing capitalist pigs.

OMG! That's really twisted. No way should anyone ever be left a voice message that a loved one died. What a dumba$$ that cop was.

You'd be suprised how stupid local police can be.

Here's a good story.

About 15 years ago, a new cop in one of the local towns pulled over my boss's son for speeding. The cop searched the car, and found a banned item, one of those folding knives that have brass knucks for the handle. The cop gave my boss's son two options: 1) Go to jail now, or 2) Agree to be his drug informant at the high school he was attending. The kid, of course, quickly chose being a drug informant. The cop made it very clear to the kid that under no circumstances should he inform his parents. The kid, being no dummy, went home when the cop let him go, and immediately told his dad (my boss at the time) everything.

Well, he hit the roof, of course, and called the Chief of Police, the mayor, et al. and informed them they had two choices: 1) Fire the cop and apologize or 2) Have their asses sued off.

The town chose option 1.
