After reading Twinkles thread on powdered eggs and noticing a lot of talk about Enertia Trail food, I was wondering what everyone's favorite is?

I've had the Allegheny Alfredo, the Switchback Spaghetti, and the Max Patch Mac and Cheese. I guess I liked the spaghetti best, but they were all good.

A little over a year ago, I posted the results of my taste test of Enertia foods (I had ordered the sample pack and, over the course of a few weeks, made and ate every meal in the box). There were a lot of good follow-up comments, too.

we've only tried the switchback spaghetti, and the canyon cheesecake..we mixed in 1/2 lb of dehydrated ground meat into the spagetti..and it was more than enough for me and Miss Opie. Not one for tomatoes much..but the sundried ones in it were good..just reconstitute the sauce a bit before you start to boil it all.
The cheesecake is to die for..but take your strawberry jam squeezer to put on top..we forgot ours..but it was still good!!!!!

I guess the switchback spaghetti is my favorite with the mac and cheese next. For breakfast their oatmeal is the best so far. I am trying some more of their foods out this weekend.

My fav would have to be either the Mac and Cheese, or the Cheeokee Rice. I'll also have to second the chilli suggestion as well!

2 thumbs up for the advise from everybody. I just placed an order with the site above. I picked up the spaghetti, potatoes, oatmeal and the Goulash. I also got me a Etowah Alcohol Stove. I know I could have built one from the old Pepsi can, but I am to lazy. You use denatured alcohol in one of the things, right?

i'm just saying, if you were going to whip up dinner at your house, would you throw in some random chicken skin, partially hydrogenated oils, crap like that? i know always eating healthy and organic is not always convenient. but if people started doing that, it would become more convenient. let us not pollute the planet and our bodies. and that's my speech for the day! thank you, thank you very much!

have a good weekend, losers. :-)

I know it not so new anymore, but all this talk of food is reminding me of an add in the recent BACKPACKER magazine. Above the add, a picture shows a guy eating a stonefly sandwich. Looked yummy! The stonefly's did not seem liked they wanted to be eaten. They were trying very hard to crawl out the one end of the sandwich.

Ya Know What I Mean?
Another stipulation is ease of preparing the meal...I want just-add-water meals, NOT ones tha you have to simmer and add then simmer and add.

HPM - you have to soak that first (El Capitan Chili), and it's my fav. too (try it with the Ranier Rice if you're really hungry or with the missus).

Tom - The San Juan is great, and so is the Max Patch Macaroni, or the Switchback Spaghetti. Make sure you put less H2O in it for the boil in the bag meals so it won't come out soupy.

Mooslaki Goolash (sp?) and Raineer Rice. Parker pass potatoes and slickrock beans. I'm pretty sure the website says that one or two of those meals have to be cooked in the pot but you don't have to. They turn out fine with alittle extra time in pouch.

Buddur, on the meals that are supposed to be simmered I just let em sit for an extra 10 minutes and they are fine.

yup- Moosilauke Goulash is the best! They just came out with a few new meals- unfortunately most are cook in a pot and they bumped up the prices of all of them. It's still a good deal, though.

Yeah, they raised the price on the Squeezers too...but I heard that they're not going to sell them much longer. I haven't tried the Goulash yet. I have one stashed away somewhere so I'll try it when I get a chance.
