Tennessee Trails
I was just wondering if any of the Trail Talkers are members of Tennessee Trails Association. If you are please let me know what chapter you are a member of. I am thinking of joining after going to a seminar last night at the Brentwood Library. An AT thru hiker names Spencer Knoch spoke on the topic of Lightweight Backpacking. Very informative.

I am a member of TTA also but very rarely go to any of there events or meetings. that may change in the near future though. They had a presentation on ultralight bping that went on for a few weeks that I wanted to go to but I just never got around to it. They tend to stree dayhikes more but there are quite a few who do bp.

presentation on ultralight
Heck, I could have given ya one of those at the Gizzard or Big Creek.

Just ask me next time to show you my gear. I'll be happy to. I don't offer because I don't want people to think I'm pushing ultralight and putting down THEIR style of packing.

I figured you weren't interested.

I have used your site many times and I think its just great. I have been using the halcon stove that uses 1 soft drink can and all you need to construct it is a knife. it works very well. I have been experimenting with different heights and windscreens and pot supports. I showed them to the crowd last night ans every one was impressed. Here is the link to the halcon site:

karo - I've seen that. It's pretty close to a reg "pepsi" stove. Works the same. I like the idea of being able to make it with just a knife.

Thanks for the comments on my website. I am way overdue for an update.

I went to meetings for a little while but I never seemed to "click" with anyone so I quit going.
I prefer the TT crowd. Much more laid back.

No doubt, wd. The TTA members seem to be way too serious.

They have invited me to a new member hike, a day hike in the boro. I met a couple of them at the seminar the other night. One guy had an old pack that must have weighed over 60 pounds! I tried to lift it with one hand and it wouldn't hardly budge. I can't wait to bp with them. lol
