“I know this site has morphed into a general-purpose site, with only occasional references to backpacking. But... do you ever contribute to a backpacking-oriented post, or just to those that are politically oriented so that you may espouse your left-leaning tendencies?

I ask because you seem to start a ton of political threads, but I can't seem to remember any that have anything to do with backpacking? Have you ever started a backpacking-oriented post?

Are you interested at all in backpacking?

“I try not to allow myself to get dragged into the political threads, but will admit that I read them periodically.

You rarely see me post because most of my interest in coming to this site was originaly backpacking-oriented, and since so few (% wise) posts are BP posts I have nlittle interest in posting.

I also have to admit to having very little interest in posting to BP threads that are non-specific in nature... "What's the best sleeping bag?" Well, dumba$$, where in the country are you? Do you go 3 season, 4 season, etc etc etc.

So you're right Violin... I don't post much. When I do, hopefully it's because I have something positive to contribute. I personally think too much of the political discussion here is negative. It doesn't further anyone's understanding of the issues, just allows them a forum to spout pre-existing bias.”
