Last month some friends and I took a trip to the Mt. Rogers NRA in Virginia, and hiked a little on the AT and Pine Mountain trails. I finally got my pics developed, scanned, and uploaded.

Oh, and "NRA" stands for "National Recreation Area", not "National Rifle Association".

Cool place. I gotta get up there some time.

I was supposed to go after Christmas a couple or three years ago, but the transmission fell outta the Exploder the day before lift-off.

Still have the maps and the snowshoes...

I gotta get a better camera. That one just doesn't do justice to landscapes.

It's really easy to take good wildlife pics when they walk right up to you...

hey bit, that is a beautiful place. I believe the pix that you thought to be Mt. Rogers are actually of Wilburn Ridge, which features prominent rocky monoliths up to around 5500 ft. Mt. Rogers is the next height of land to the south and is totally forested - Wilburn Ridge will block your view of Rogers when you are on Pine Mt or in the vicinity of the scales, if memory serves. I hope to be there later this week when the front comes through.

That's what I was thinking, although I didn't know the name of the ridge. When we got to it, I was pretty sure that what I was taking pics of wasn't Mt. Rogers. I was a little disappointed, but not much. We were in a hurry the last day so we didn't get a chance to go to the Mt. Rogers summit, which I hear isn't so hot anyway, since there's no view.

We got plenty of good views anyway.

Awesome pics Bit! When I get some time I'll try to get G00SE's pics posted. I haven't even looked at them yet, LOL. It was a really good hike.

Nice.

Remind me before you go next time and I'll give you my pony jerky recipe.

No sense wasting good meat.
