A Funny Thing Happened Today............ .........

“I'm always joking when at vistas that if they cut down some trees it'd make the view more spectacular, knowing full darn well that you're not supposed to be cutting down trees for things like that (vistas are supposed to occur naturally). Well, when coming up to a local overlook I noticed some trees on the slope below (I was coming upslope from the sandstone ledges below) and getting up to the view saw that it is much wider and unobscured now that a few trees are down.

Who'd've thunk?!?!”

“Soooooo...nobody sees the irony to this, eh?”

“Buddur...you jinxed it or something ..

“Yeah, Buddur, where were you hiking?

I'm assuming the trees didn't fall naturally?”

“I know he wasn't in the South when this happened, like that narrows it down some. Down here you'd have walked through knee deep trash that the Bubbas had thrown off the overlook. The bottom of all our overlooks are filthy. Buddur made no mention of old tire, mattresses, or shopping carts on his uphill hike.

In college in Geology class the prof asked what is the ONE thing Native to all streams in the State of Alabama. After letting us think for about a minute he replied that the answer is a shopping cart. He said that he'd been to some of the most remote parts of the state and no matter where he was he'd always find a shopping cart in the creek.”

“Hire some porcupines to ring the base of those offending trees.....”

“Why not appreciate the natural beauty? Probably a great many views were created long ago this way. I'm all for opening up a view. It's prob the #1 reason that I hike for.”

When I went down to Cumberland, Kentucky we went to see the Cumberland falls. A very unique feature is that when the moon is full it will cast a "moonbow". Only one of two in the world known to do this. When we got there there was trash floating and swirling in the eddies and the most outstanding feature I saw was the dead goat on the rocks.”

“Dead goat, huh? That's nice and scenic. The odor makes for a wonderful ambiance too.”

“This overlook is so out in the middle of nowhere and is so beautiful, there's nothing but drool drips on the ledge, and a bunch of "WOW is that beautifuls" lying on the slope below.”
