For a trip to see friends on the right coast. I was thinking of traveling through the south and seeing some gators on my way there and taking about two-three weeks to do it. For those of you in the south is november a nice time of year?

November is when it starts to cool down and the mugginess goes away here. It's just past the start of the backpacking season here and the hurricane season has just ended.

GATORS??? DID YOU SAY GATORS???
i would haveto say that if its gators you want then you have to go to okefenokee swamp...its where i grew up ...literally right on the swamp...its in south GA...one entrance near Waycross and another near Fargo, waycross has the whole look at me park thing going on while fargo is pretty untame in a really really small town...look it up on a map...and of course if you want to go down florida way then its only about 1 good hour to jacksonville from wayX...i highly reccommend the swamp...its name means land of the trembl;ing earth..cuz indians didnt know that the huge islands were actually floating...to me it is the land frozen in time...

From your other post, I would think you might want to save some of that vacation time to go backpacking with your new backpacker friend. Just the two of you out in the Sierras, checking out if he's got dimples any where else? :)

LMAO @ reptiles. Dont worry work is very flexible about time off! If I do a lot of over time I get a lot of days off :) Crazy Mike you live where maybe I will make my way your direction.

What shep says is true. Keep in mind there are also gators throughout the state of Florida. They exist in pretty much every body of fresh water bigger than a basketball court. They are everywhere. Really neat animals to look at. If you come near Tampa and our schedules align, I'd be happy to show you some. The nearby Hillsborough River is full of them. I went canoeing there a few months ago, and we saw about two dozen gators in the first hour.. and stopped counting after that because there were so many.

Gators are nothing, you have to watch out for all the Artex's in Florida. Very nasty bite from what I hear.
