Sawtooth snow/trip report “For anyone interested, I hiked in to Sawtooth Lk out of Stanley, in the Idaho Sawtooths, on July 12-13. The lake is at about 8200', and we hit snow at about that level. The lake was ice free, but large icebergs the size of a bus were breaking off the snowfields on the south side of the lake, and floating around the lake. The shooting stars were out, the moon was full, the streams were flowing full of snow melt. Sawtooth is about the most scenic lake in the Sawtooths. Hope everyone else had as good a weekend as ours. Our trip was also a gastronomic and hedonistic blowout, with a Friday 10PM pizza, Sat morning bacon-eggs-hashbrown breakfast, and stops at hot springs on both the drive in and the drive out. I am such a pig!” 10:18:04 AM 7/22/03 “sounds awesome bob! any pics? no flatulence shots please!” 10:21:32 AM 7/22/03 “Unfortunately, my little digital camera quit working on the trip. I'll do better next time.” 10:24:29 AM 7/22/03
