Yah, but I bet there's still plenty of combustibles on the thing. Plus, if you get iron or steel hot enough, they will burn. Someone could have set off a thermite bomb. That would do the trick.

Top floor has lots of combustables. If I remember right, there's also a gift shop at the bottom.

Big news day in the making:

1) There's the Eiffel Tower fire, then...

2) "smoldering bodies" removed from a house in northern Iraq after a firefight are believed to be those of Uday & Qusay, and...

3) The Jessica Lynch Homecoming Special is starting on CNN.

Take your pick.

Some Tower Trivia....

The Great Pyramid at Giza was the tallest manmade structure on earth for over 4,000 years until the Eiffel Tower was built in 1889. It held that distinction for only 40 years until the Chrysler Building was completed in 1930.

The Chrysler Building was 'topped' by the Empire State Building four months later....

Maybe they could try putting the darn thing out with all the water that they never use to shower with.

The funny thing about that tower is that it was built for the World's Fair and then it was scheduled to be torn down. The French thought it was stupid.

Ha Ha! I think a movement statted to keep the structure.

Speaking of Paris, here is another stupid fact about a useless country.

The world's first automobile road race took place on this day in 1894. During the 78-mile race from Paris to Rouen, one contestant, Count Jules de Dion, made news by breaking the record speed of 13.6 mph.

From the IMDb's Trivia page on that movie:

A French postman felt off his bicycle on the Champs Elysées, when he saw some extras dressed as German soldiers crossing the avenue during a lunch pause. He ran out screaming, "They're back! They're back!"
