The french have betrayed the United States numerous times. They are everything but an ally to us. We have had to bail them out of countless numbers of wars because their policies and military tactics were "soft". And yes, everything they do is in their best interests... such as giving up their jewish polulation in WWII, their imperialistic views in Africa and Asia post 1900, and all the stupid little things they've done in between in order to lay claim to being a world leader. Their behavior in regard to Iraq was just another typical "French" thing for them to do.

My forfathers helped bail them out of 3 wars, and I hope we never do it again. I frankly think they'll be better off if they were ruled by someone else, maybe they could learn what being a real country is all about.

As for the people of France, I'm sure there are a handful that I'd like or want to be firends with on an individual basis, but the fact that many of their citizens are rude to Americans, and keep electing a bunch of morons to lead them, have led me to believe that they are pretty worthless in general.

If you guys want to call me a bigot or racist, whatever... you'd be the first, and because you don't know me, your opinion of me in that regard matters not.

Which ones you talking about. The first world war, of which America became a factor right at the end after millions of French died in the trenches. Not really bailing them out, vital help them at the end maybe.

The second world war. They lost to an impressive military regime. Probably equal to the American military today. And bailing out. France was invaded in 1940, American came into the war after Germany declared war on them four days after Pearl Harbour - two years later.
I don't mean that Europe doesn't owe America a huge debt, but again, sweeping statements like "bailed them out" really represent what actually happend. Also I think the activities of some French following the invasion are a national embarrasment. Many people made mistakes in those times.

Not sure what you mean about the third time - the cold war amybe, when the "soft" military had become the world's fourth nuclear power, and it had a sizeable military which could operate independently of NATO?

And arrogance. Most French people I've talked to do regaurd the attempts to safeguard the national language and culture as a little silly. But it's the same activity as the Welsh making learning that language in school essential, or the preservation of the Eskimo languages, or the native American Culture.”
