“Given that they had a satellite phone, I'm sure someone called Daddy and he authorized the price of a rescue. I'm not certain why the National Guard did the rescue other than they needed a little practice. I cannot find any other information that would justify such a response for a sprained ankle. I guess Outward Bound programs no longer emphasize self-reliance.

These guys had every piece of fishing equipment imaginable, but forgot to take enough beer. So they called up a helicopter company and had them fly out 4 or 5 cases of beer and some beef jerky (just kidding about the jerky)”
