Its just this very kind of thing...
that has upset the balance of the Universe.

When Binney & Flynn (Crayola Crayon) monkeyed with the original 64 box of Crayola Crayons, the Universe had a major shift. Ever since, things haven't been quite the same...global warming began, Dolphins and whales began beaching themselves, Space shuttle accidents...increased levels of road rage...gas production decreases...I could go on and on. I have studied the socioeconimic situation for years, and my conclusions are irrefutable and my analysis has stood firm against numerous tests. It is conclusive...The human species is doomed, and it all stems from the messin with the steeenkin original colors of the 64 box of Crayola Crayons. Ban Binney & Flynn. they are out to destroy humanity.

Crayola Crayon's TRUE Colors

Child's jubilation dashed by Binney & Smith error

By JENNA PORTNOY
The Express-Times

Justina Hecker's artwork submission to Crayola's Dream-Makers exhibition turned into a nightmare for the 9-year-old and her family.

Earlier this month the Heckers received a letter saying the third-grader's picture was chosen from thousands of entries to be on display at the State Theatre Center for the Arts.

The Wisconsin family immediately hopped on the Internet and started planning for a trip to Easton this summer.

A few days later Justina's mom, Laura Hecker, got a call from Crayola manufacturer Binney & Smith letting her know her daughter was one of 91 students erroneously sent letters of congratulations.

In fact, Justina's artwork was not recognized among thousands of entries.

"I couldn't believe what I was hearing. This just couldn't be. This is a child's life," the mother said in a phone interview Tuesday. "You just shattered her life."

Shattered her life?

Well it does seem over the top, but things that seem trivial to adults are monumental to kids.

"It just about makes me bawl now, thinking about it," she said, adding that her daughter is cynical about entering other drawing competitions."

No need to worry. Apparently your kid wouldn't win anyways!

My wife pulled my daughter out of her class in school early today so we could all go see my son's kindergarten graduation as a family. My daughter was very upset because she missed the end of the movie her class was watching.

I guess it's time to file suit against my wife, sigh...
