Opportunity
Today, I was tasked to do a no-notice biztrip to SoCal. While there, I will have an opportunity to see my son-in-law do two shows (he is a striving for success singer-songwriter).

The first show is at 8PM Sat 2 Aug, at Triangle Square, 1870 Harbor Blvd, Costa Mesa.

The second is at 8PM Tuesday at Fiero's, 211 N. Harboe Blvd, Fullerton.

I'll be the geezer in a Mariner's ballcap. It's been a while since I was a regular poster on TT, but it would be fun to meet any of y'all who might be located in the SoCal craziness. If you walk up and say "Hey, Strider!" it's worth a free drink....

tarbubble,

I haven't been there before, but if I recall correctly it's no cover, 2 drink minimum. Hope to meet you there. I need to catch a plane in about 7 hours so it's off to the rack....

Venue correction, I read the website wrong. Tonight, the show is at the Market City Cafe, on Birch Street in Brea, 9PM. If anyone takes in the other venue tonight, you'll see Tyrone Wells. Tyrone is also a very good new singer-songwriter so it hopefully won't dissapoint.

Congratulations on your son-in-law Strider.. Once you get some mp3's we can download, let us know -- so some of us 'not so west coast' folks can check out his band too, ok??

strider, i'm going to have to stand you up for the performance tonight. i'm sure the venue is less than baby-friendly, and i don't have an available babysitter. damn, and i really wanted to go out. i hope the shows go well and you're enjoying yourself.

Dang. Just a few miles from my house and I am now reading this thread at 9:07 p.m.

I would love to have gone. I am packing for a car camping trip to South Lake and trying to finish a paper.

Just got back from spending a couple of hours with Strider and watching his son-in-law's group perform. They are pretty good. His son-in-law is a good singer and song writer.

Great fun seeing Strider again. He really worked on getting me to come up to WA for a trip...sounds great!!!

Phil, i drove through Fullerton at around 10 last night, on the way home from my mom's house. i really, really thought hard about just taking the baby anyway, but he'd fallen asleep and it would have been a very bad idea. GRRRR! glad y'all had fun.

Phil,

Thanks again for taking in the show, it was great to see you. Hope that little writing chore you deferred until today isn't getting in the way of packing the pack (grin). Well, now its off to the freeways (what a joy that is) and the airplane home. Vacation next week, and a walk in Goat Rocks to catch up with Chas's throng.

tar,

Sorry to have missed you. Perhaps next time.

tarbubble - Sorry you couldn't make it, but it was very loud with the band playing. After the last set we got to talk a lot. Strider is the consummate trail chef.

I bought one of Mike's CD's and just finished listening to it. Both Mike's looks and sound remind me of Bob Marley (a mixture of folk music and reggae?? Last night he even did some rap). My daughters are Bob Marley fans. I gave one of them his CD to listen to for a second opinion.

It is always nice to get together with TTers. Really sorry you couldn't join us.

Strider - Just saw your post. I got the paper done and submitted around 3 p.m. yesterday and then started shopping and packing. Couldn't fit everying in my car so had to repack in my wife's SUV. Heading for South Lake in about two hours.

It was great seeing you and your family. Next time send me an email or more obvious post when you are going to be in the area!!
