Now what do I do?

“So I went away this weekend and came home with a 12.5 foot Kayak.
thats the good part. The bad part is where do I put it?

Treebeard offered to take the yak up the stairs for me. (4 fligts)
so i empty the car, which took about a 1/2 hr.
When I got back to the apartment he had only gotten to the 2nd landing.
He told me there was no way in ^&&%$$$% %*(^((% #&IUH O 6((_ Hell
that we were going to get it into the apt. :(
so we had to take it to the roof.
this thing is HUGE. (boy am I glad treebeard loves me)

so now the question is "Where Do I put it?"”

“Rent a storage area.”

“I thought about it. it would cost something like 150.00 a month. OUCH”

“I guess you could rent a parking space for it...or you could store it at my house in NH.”

No really, here in Tell CIty, there's a couple that has a very nice hand crafted wooden canoe. They use it on their lake and at other locations during the summer. In the winter a local restuarant stands it on end in a corner of the dining room. It goes well with their other outdoor motiffe and is free winter storage for the couple :-)”

Here's the deal. You now own, what, three kayaks? Duh! Tree can start a marina to store them, then rent out space to other boaters to pay the bills. It could be located off the end of the car impound lot pier, since you guys already spend a lot of time there.

“FG's suggestion is what they do in Holland. A lot of the houses there have narrow interior staircases, so they usually have a big window on the second floor, and a block and tackle rig hanging above it so they can get stuff upstairs.”

“Gee Mapleleaf, in my neighborhood the kids leave their bikes all over the place for hours, days. Where I grew up, they would have been stolen in no time. SOooooo if you want to store that kayak with me, you can. You would have to drive it out this way to use it anyway. Then we can share it. Waddya say? How much does it weigh anyway? Tree/Popeye must be pretty strong to put it on the car roof etc.”

If your beating it up to get it in and out then you will destroy it fairly quickly if you use it very much. just might be worth a larger storage unit....”

“My canoe & straps have been outside for 30 years & nobody has bothered them. My garden tractor & snowplow too. I did get a shovel "borrowed" that I left at my roadside mailbox but they returned it. I try to lock my shed & house but many people don't. My daughter put up a temp shed on my property until they move into their new house & just put a clamp on the door to hold it shut.”
