I know (or used to know)how to add fonts on the Mac. But don't have a clue on the PC, unless it would be a disk of fonts purchased.

I could really use having Times and Helvetica in my MS Word program. Anywhere I can pick them up online? And then, how do you add them?

Yes, I'm a dolt. LOL!

In the the control panel there is a file called "fonts". Go to a computer that has the fonts you wish and copy them on a disk(copy & paste"). I am sure you can find fonts on the web, but I do not know where. Open up the "font" file and under "file" there is "Install new fonts" it will ask you what drive has the new fonts and you will direct them to the disk or file that your have stored your new fonts. Some Adobe fonts require a "font manager", but I don't think this will apply to you. Write back if there are any problems.

Or drag them into your fonts directory which is in the Windows directory. I.E. - c:\windows\fonts

If you are using 98 or ME, yes... 2000 or XP, no need.

If you're using Office 2000 or Office XP, go to:

http://office.microsoft.com/productupdates/default.aspx

Otherwise you need to print out the fonts from a machine that has the ones you want. Locate the font port on the top of your PC. Compaq models lack this port. To make your own, take a 1" spade bit and drill a hole in the top of your PC approximately 5" from the front of the machine. Roll up the pages with the fonts you printed from the other machine and install them through your font port. If you are adding many pages of fonts, you may need to use a hammer.

Good luck!
