Princeton Tec is a great Company! I broke a piece on my Aurora and they are sending it to me free of charge! Now that is customer service! They never even asked how it happened or how old the unit was.

That is good to hear, since I have one of those lights and the scoop on them is that the screw on the hinge works its way loose. Mine is still pretty tight though. No problems yet.

I've found that most backpacking gear companies, unlike some of our great American businesses, bend over backwards to keep customers pleased. I have not had an unpleasant experience yet.

Two notes re: Princeton Tec...

On my son's Aurora, the rubber switch cover disappeared. I expect it's 'cuz he'd gotten into the habit of jamming the headlamp into a smallish cargo pocket. Dragging the button against the pocket repeatedly probably worked it loose. (SMALL cargo pocket, Aurora JAMMED into it...)

Princeton Tec mailed me a replacement part no question asked, took about five minutes to fix.

Regarding the screw, I've had to tighten one once. Best thing to do is back it out of there a bit and apply some blue Loctite or similar medium-strength thread-locking compound to the threads before putting it back together. That seems to have taken care of the issue on the one unit which had the trouble.

Thanks DD. I'll try to keep that in mind.

I do have a couple of their little Pulsar II LED lights as well. They seem as functional as the Photons.

Oh, and I have one of their little LED flashlights as well. Small, compact, light, uses AAA batteries that last almost forever. It has a magnifyer lens. It does not put out a great amount of light, but should be adequate for backpacking, especially since I do not do a lot of night hiking. And when I do, I generally do not use lights.

They are a great company. They stand behind their products if there is ever a problem.

As long as we're cooing about customer service, anyone notice how quick Rick Kleg is to jump on problems with Cascade Designs stuff? That's what ended up being the deciding factor between my miniworks ex or a pur unit.
