Drilling on BLM land
Drilling Push

The Bush administration issued new policies Thursday to reduce or eliminate what it says are impediments to leasing federal lands overseen by the Bureau of Land Management that could be ripe for oil and natural gas drilling.

The focus areas subject to the new policies are:
Montana Thrust Belt in northwestern Montana near Glacier National Park.
Powder River Basin in northeastern Wyoming.
Green River Basin in southwestern Wyoming.
Piceance Basin in northwestern Colorado.
Uinta Basin in northeastern Utah.
Ferron Coal Trend Basin in central Utah.
San Juan Basin in northwestern New Mexico.

Unfortunately, not much of a surprise. It's what would happen if criminals could instruct the police not to interfere with their crimes.

It's disillusioning to think that these were supposed to be lands held in public trust. I guess Haliburton will need a place to work when they are done in Iraq.
