this is a trip report about getting back to nature. I learned that sometimes what you are looking for can be found right under your nose.
I woke up this morning around 6:30am. I could not go back to sleep so I headed o the water.
the drive through Brookylyn at the time, was very nice. No cars, No noise.
I got a little BK breakfast and got my kayak on the water and settled down on the pier to enjoy the fresh morning.
I was very distrubed by the
amount of trash that I saw in the water. i guess between the recent rains and just plain lazy people, there was a lot of garbage in the water. Not very nice to see when eating.
But it was not going to ruin my day :)

so i set off. the weather was perfect. there was no wind and other boats on the water.

I had gone the day before with a group. we went right before low tide. It was very cool to see the birds eating all the fish that had washed ashore.

But this morning it was high tide. I was able to paddle into inlets that just the day before were to shallow to get into. It was cool going into an area that i knew boats could not get into.
there was no noise, other then the birds. it was music. to hear them, and only them.
The day before the leader of the group trip told us that there was a place called Jeep Point. he said that there was a jeep out in the dunes (yeah right and I have a bridge to sell you).

Well to my surpice there was a jeep in the middle of the dune.
It was neat paddling back and to see a gull standing in the middle of the bay on a small patch of sand. it looked as if he was walking on the water.

the bottom line is, it was a wonderful short trip. but it was something that everyone should try at least once. it is very different then being on a moutain top, but the feeling is the same (to me at least)
to just sit in your kayak and let the waves carry you, is so relaxing.
this is a pretty new sport for me, but one that I have fallen in love with.

the mountains are mighty
and
the water is still
but both will heal your soul.

it was pretty disturbing.
i guess because the pier is at the end of the in-let, all the trash goes there.
it was very gross eating and watching a tampon floating by. it looked more like every day trash. like milk lids, napkins, fruit. stuff like that. i guess that bothered me more.

Cool beans. You can't even see the car strapped below the HMS Pottymouth.

The bird looks like a heron. The white bird at Jeep Point looks like an egret. Now you can't say you have no egrets (booooooooo)!

Thanks for sharing maple..you even enjoyed the birds singing in the morning? (lol) Last week I got away for a nice afternoon walk..seems like even the shortest outings can clear your mind of all the junk that gets in there.

It was what i needed and still need more of.
I guess with all the things that go on in life, you forget about the little things. it was very cool to see the birds dive right into the water and come up with food.

It was not stolen because it probably had a tape deck and not a CD player in it.
