I predict a $50 fine, court costs and a promise never to disobey a law enforcment official in that county again....

Hey, wow, that would be a lot less than what Unca Chuck would have sentenced them to.

His sentence would have been more like "Death, from being trapped in knee-high water after a dying whale rolls over on you."

That county needs to be more strict if they really want to protect their beachgoers.

I am sure the judge will administer a first rate a$$ chewing.

But who knows, crossing a police line is treated as serious business. Probation might be involved.

I'm sure the people's intentions were good, but from the training that Maple and I have received from the NY Aquarium, those folks were actually endangering themselves as well as not doing that whale any good. The best thing you can do for the whale in that situation is to call the proper authorities and sit back while qualified personnel do what it takes to save the creature and hope for the best...
