1039 miles to see my girlfriend...
18 hours of drive time and many miles, but I finally arrived onto the island. After a quick stop at Fort Raleigh and The Wright Brothers I headed south. I passed the Dunes, where a kite exposition was going on...It looked very cool and I snapped a few photos.

The house that we rent is down in Avon, 1 hour south of the NP entrance, I drove leisurly as I knew that the Stratusloop clan was at least an hour behind me. Upon arrival to Avon, I hit up the super market, picking up what would be dinner and breakfast for the the crew. I got to the campground below Avon, right on the property of the Hatarass Lighthouse. Very cool. It was not packed, but was not empty either. I picked a nice spot, near the bathrooms (for the Ladies) and began constructing base camp. I had everything ready for the arrival of the SL clan.

They arrived and the fun began. It never let up for 6 whole days. We made smores, had bonfires on the beach, played chase the crab at night with the headlamps, wandered up and down the beach looking for seashells and ate, ate, ATE!!! I keep saying its not about being out, its about EATING!!! We went shopping one day, and went out for icecream one evening..Rebecca bought icecream for everyone, (she's my 7 year old bestest friend).

Last year, when the 2 of us were alone, she asked me if she could be my best friend, I asked her if she knew what a best friend was. She said "best friends call each other all the time". I laughed and cried at the same time. I asked her how long she wanted to be best friend for, she said forever. I gave her a big hug and said "DONE, we will be best friends forever".

We surfed in the waves and made a huge wonderful sand castle/fort for her to play with...it lasted through 4 high tides...not too shabby...SL and I really know how to make a seawall. 2 foot thick and 3 foot high.

We found the most incredible seashells and had THE best time. When it came time for me to leave on the following saturday, it was very difficult. but as I drove up the coast, I knew that the only thing ending was this particular chapter of adventure...the saga will continue for years to come...

I thoroughly enjoy these summer vacations to the sea shore, and I truely enjoy the magic of the water, sun, and especially, the giggling squeels of a 7 year old as you spin her and top velocity above the waves. Luv ya darlin...

and see ya soon...

lizs, it's too late.

Someone has even written an ode to stikmon and his cabana boy skills.

Does stikmon work anymore?

Colorado and NC in the past couple of weeks, a week in Big Bend later in the year.

I have to renegotiate my contract, I don't get that much time off.

chili...
I am the master of Time Manipulation. Don't forget the Death Valley trip, a trip to Cape Coral, and trip back east to snowshoe and a 2nd trip to Denver where I got snowed out and had to stay in the hotel.

I'm just trying to keep up with the likes of CMB and SnowNymph. Hard acts to follow, but I do my best.

Stik, nice trip. I love the seashore. It's my idea of a great vacation (doing just what you guys were doing). SL is a good guy, but never met his family. Looks like you and your bestest friend enjoyed it...
