To Simer190/Lizs - my latest schedule

We expect to arrive in MN late on Wednesday, August 20th for three nights at William O’Brien SP on the St. Croix River. Second choice is Willow River SP in Wisconsin near I-94. We will drive to Grinnell on Saturday, August 23rd. We might be able to telephone and, maybe, visit with one of you along the way that Saturday. I will be at Rock Creek SP near Grinnell that Saturday night and, possibly, for several days.

My daughter arrived OK from Panama yesterday. We have a beautiful campsite on the shore of Chatuge Lake, NC, just north of Hiawassee, GA. Three types of ducks are swimming around us, fish are jumping, and other birds and rabbits pay us visits. Tomorrow we will backpack on the AT in GSMNP looking for berries and looking-out for bears eating berries. Our three nights there will be at Double Spring Gap, Silers Bald and again at Double Spring Gap shelters.”

“We now plan to arrive at Grinnell of 8-19. We will drive to Minnesota on the 20th, stay three nights and return to Grinnell on the 23rd. Currently, there are no other special plans. I'll be trying to contact both of you while enroute.

Nice to meet you in the Smokys. I'm one of the three guys that talked with you at the shelter one afternoon (I believe it was your last night before heading back to Clingmans). Hope your trip went well. We saw some Boar as well as a couple of bears the next night. Oh what fun we had!

lizs and simer190 Sorry our paths did not meet. It is very difficult trying to arrange meetings, while trying to move fast along the road. Next June I plan to take more time and make some firm arrangements in advance. I am now back in GSMNP.”
