Can you draw me a picture?” 11:23:43 AM 6/08/05 “draw him a bunch of pictures in sequence then put it to music... now we're talking real culture” 11:31:41 AM 6/08/05 “ ”11:33:43 AM 6/08/05 “Damn tree, to draw you a picture, I need Drawing for Dummies!” 11:35:47 AM 6/08/05 “ ”11:37:37 AM 6/08/05 “I was gonna take up ventriloquism, but I couldn't find a copy of Dummies for Dummies.” 11:39:14 AM 6/08/05 “ ”11:41:53 AM 6/08/05 Doh! “If you could read, you would notice that's not the edition of Dummies for Dummies I need. I need the other edition, which talks about ventriloquism and dummies like Charlie McCarthy.” 11:45:33 AM 6/08/05 “But really, I think if you could spell, you really need "Dummys for Dummies", which I could not find for you, so I gave you what you asked for.” 11:47:20 AM 6/08/05 Dumbschitzkis “Dum dum dum dum dum Dum dee dee dee dum Whoa-oh-oh-oh” 11:47:44 AM 6/08/05 “Perhaps, but the plural of dummy is dummies.” 11:48:29 AM 6/08/05 “LOL are you all going to hug now or what?” 11:52:40 AM 6/08/05 “No I'm not gonna hug a dummy. You could get a splinter that way!” 11:53:46 AM 6/08/05 Singing For Dummies “Can you sing, "If I Only Had A Brain", Geo?” 11:56:01 AM 6/08/05 “What you say about CC is true Tree. V ery, very heavily synicated. I like my local radio to be, well, local. One of the local stations motto is, "Always live, local djs, local prize winners...obviousely NOT a Clear Channel station!". The local #1 station (it's all #2 in my mind though) is a CC station and they play the same shlt day after day after day. It's the same shlt from 25 years ago they were playing.” 12:19:09 PM 6/08/05 “CC sucks all the bad things in the world. commerical radio sucks in general” 12:21:46 PM 6/08/05 “Maybe somebody should tell CC that their stations suck and nobody wants to listen to them. They probably haven't done any market research yet. They think they're getting rich from market share, but really they must not be. In the meantime, I'm going to exercise my right to use the little dialy-thingy on the radio.” 12:22:27 PM 6/08/05 “same here i listen to the internet radio!!” 12:26:21 PM 6/08/05 “Their research is fine, Sarge. These folks know what they are doing. They DO know how to make money. Their research says that classic rock listeners really do want to hear Stairway To Heaven over and over and over again. It is true. The repitition sells. The old freeform days are dead. Except for those of us who still complain about it. The artistic side of the DJ's work is almost non-existent on the big money makers anymore...” 12:33:35 PM 6/08/05 “like CBS FM there new format is that of an IPOD great music, but I miss the DJ's” 12:34:50 PM 6/08/05 “It's like that in most fields. Art (painting), authoring books, music, film ... most of the talented people can't get rich because they don't push out the cookie-cutter material. That's not the fault of the cookie-cutters though. It's the fault of the consumer. Get mad at the consumer, Tree. Redirect your anger. I can feel your anger.… It gives you focus … makes you stronger. last edited: 6/08/05 12:38:39 PM” 12:36:43 PM 6/08/05 “"These folks know what they are doing. They DO know how to make money." Yeah, it's kind of hard to NOT make money when you're about the only show in town. It's like owning every gas station in town. They don't even need research. All they need to do is exist, make money and watch the bar get lower and lower. I generally buy CDs and listen on the internet. NPR is about the only actual radio I listen to.” 12:47:06 PM 6/08/05 “They didn't just all of a sudden become the "only" show in town. They started small and grew because people were listening to them. They're making money because people listen, and they grew because people listened. {cough} duh {cough}” 12:49:28 PM 6/08/05 “You all make good points. Believe me, I acept what's going on. Why else would I travel 70 minutes in each direction every Saturday to do the show? All this is just rhetoric, really. I don't wallow in this. Believe me!” 12:51:58 PM 6/08/05 “Singing For Dummies “Can you sing, "If I Only Had A Brain", Geo?” MarkO If MarkO only had a brain (you'll have to imagine that being sung)” 12:57:12 PM 6/08/05 “I got my Arbitron radio listening diaries today in the mail. It's really kind of cool to be able to do this survey. then again, I've always wanted to serve jury duty too. Wierd thing is my little gift? they stuck a dollar bill in my fiorst letter telling me my diaries were coming and then a dollar bill in each of the two diaries. Weird they'd be sending cash in the mail.” 3:15:15 PM 6/15/05 “Yeah, they do that dollar thang! lol Have fun with it. And give CC a Bronx Cheer for me!!!! Ha!” 3:28:58 PM 6/15/05 “Well my week of tracking my radio listening for Arbitron is almost over and I was glad they have a space for general comments. I wrote, "The most important thing for me concerning radio listening is variety. I find the Clear Channel stations to be repetitive, boring and stale.". LOL! I was also glad to find that internet radio does count too so I was able to track my favorite internet stations too.” 8:20:37 AM 6/22/05 “next time just say "THEY SUCK SNAIL BALLS!"” 8:23:23 AM 6/22/05 “Really? I am pleasantly surprised about internet radio being included with that! That's very interesting! The last time I dealt with Arbitron, there was no internet radio or satellite radio, for that matter. So, how long are they asking you to monitor this?” 8:26:16 AM 6/22/05 “Just one week. They were very good at keeping in touch and making themselves avaiable for questions. They sent me at least two letters of thanks and have called about every other day.” 8:43:53 AM 6/22/05 “Cool! Then, you're done! Thanks for keeping me in the loop. I find it interesting... Good shot at CC, BTW! last edited: 6/22/05 8:49:01 AM” 8:48:48 AM 6/22/05 “The funniest thing about the CC station here in Huntsville, is that they insist on doing traffic reports on I65, which is about 25 miles away from Huntsville. Weather reports are a hoot too, since they go by whatever the NWS puts out, which can be inaccurate, because they use the report from the airport, which is 20 miles from downtown Huntsville. It's hilarious to be driving down the street on a sunny day, and hear them talk about light rain in Huntsville.” 8:53:35 AM 6/22/05 “I love their concept of the "local angle", Bit!” 8:55:08 AM 6/22/05 “Ya know, they have the building with the transmitter and everything here, they could hire some local schmuck to do the traffic and weather. They rely on people calling in to a 1-877 number to get their traffic info, so the local teenagers have figured out that they have no way to verify the traffic report. So, occaisionally, some one will call in with a totally bogus accident, like a few months ago when they reported that a semi had overturned and spilled it's load at one of the busier intersections in town.” 9:03:42 AM 6/22/05 “Traffic reports, news, weather and the like are extras that outlets will institute to give an appearance of community involvment to a segment of the listening audience and/or to reel in some of those that may tune to another outlet for this information. They figure that crappy coverage is better than none at all, in this case. So, without denting the budget too much, this is the net results sometimes...” 9:11:07 AM 6/22/05 “I usually only listen to them in the morning, when they have "John Boy and Billy" on. In the afternoons, I switch to the local alt rock station. Except during commercials.” 9:13:43 AM 6/22/05 “Hey Tree! I have a request for your show. Except I won't be around to hear it this Saturday. So I don't know what I'm doing here. Anyhoo, when we were at Joshua Tree NP at one of the nearby gear stores, the guys there told us to make sure to visit the final burning place of Gram Parsons of the Flying Burrito Brothers (we did). But now I'd love to hear some of their/his music. Can ya help me out with that?” 1:50:35 PM 6/22/05 “Have you seen Grand Theft Parsons, Ruby?” 1:57:52 PM 6/22/05 “no what's that?” 2:02:14 PM 6/22/05 “Grand Theft Parsons is a movie culminating in the burning of Gram Parsons body.” 2:04:43 PM 6/22/05 “ahhhhh I will have to see it then. Thanks, MarkOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” 7:46:41 PM 6/22/05 “That was a great movie.” 7:52:18 PM 6/22/05 “No problem, Ruby!” 8:56:36 PM 6/22/05 Hey man, “You should talk about this in your radio show! Bring out the underground to save an institution! http://www.cnn.com/2005/SHOWBIZ/Music/09/09/music.cbgb.slease.ap/index.html” 3:42:56 PM 9/09/05 “Roam, I've been following this very closely and yeah, I probably should do a segment using the music of The ramones, Talking Heads, Blondie, etc. Hell, I should find the tape of myy interview with Johnny and Joey Ramone and use a few bites from that, too. Good idea! Actually, I'm doing the show early tomorrow because of an open house that I am hosting for scout recruitment. So, I may not have time to plan it. But, it should still be relevant for next week. Little Steven rocks! He's doing a lot for Hilly Krystal. Too bad Muzzy Rosenblatt is doing anything he can to not renew the lease...” 10:17:43 PM 9/09/05 “Yo! I'm comin to NY! I'm sending ya an email with some questions!” 2:41:36 PM 9/23/05 “No sheeeet, man? You must come and see us. Need a place to stay, please ask!” 2:50:54 PM 9/23/05 “Got your mail. Back at ya. We will talk further next week..” 2:53:06 PM 9/23/05 Jump to Page << prev
