Greatest entertainment in NYC!” 2:59:30 PM 9/23/05 “thats what I hear!” 3:00:05 PM 9/23/05 “Maybe you could stand on the street corner with a cup that says "WILL DO TAXES FOR BEER".” 3:01:25 PM 9/23/05 “I can tell ya anything you want to know WK. And the best thing of all was the treat was on treebeard. What a guy!” 3:03:17 PM 9/23/05 “No, we're going to dress Roam as a hooker and peddle his ass on Canal Street!” 3:06:15 PM 9/23/05 “I have met Roam, and I gotta tell ya, you're going to starve to death that way.” 3:07:57 PM 9/23/05 “I don't know Geobeet. I've seen some of the people who hang around on Canal Street. When's Roam coming to the other New York to the north?” 3:10:31 PM 9/23/05 “OUCH! Dang Geo, you could at least lie a little bit!” 3:23:53 PM 9/23/05 “Well I was speaking strictly from the point of view of my own tastes in these sorts of matters. Lumberzac could have a point.” 3:25:53 PM 9/23/05 “LOL” 3:41:29 PM 9/23/05 “question for you. Was Damien Rice in a well know band before he went solo. I just heard his song with some girl called Unplayed Piano, petty damn good” 6:29:49 PM 11/30/05 “Not as far as I know, Ewker. I know he did some guest work with with others, such as Moby, Jools Holland and I think, Counting Crows. But, I could be wrong aboutthat last one...” 8:05:59 AM 12/01/05 “Hey Treebeard, if you haven't already recieved your camera it should be getting there any day now. Sorry so late.” 8:09:02 AM 12/01/05 “No problem. Hope it comes by this weekend. I'm going hiking in the Hudson Valley Sunday. It's a beautiful photo op. Now, let me get this straight. We're taking just ONE picture for each person it's sent to, right?” 8:15:54 AM 12/01/05 “Who is Damien Rice??” 8:25:09 AM 12/01/05 “"We're taking just ONE picture for each person it's sent to, right?” Yes, so make it count and make it Mapes naked by a waterfall or something cool like that. LOL!” 8:35:23 AM 12/01/05 “Nice brisk day? Hmmm, even a wet t-shirt could make for an interesting pic!” 8:37:22 AM 12/01/05 “dang MarkO you need to get out more ;) one thing XMradio has done for me is to present a wider range of music than you can get with your local stations. Tree, have you listened to the Herbie Hancock album Possibilities. I have heard a few cuts from it. It has quite a few singers on it like Sting, Damien Rice, John Mayer, Christina Aguilera (she does an awesome job on A Song for You), Annie Lenox, Paul Simon and a others. Funny this album is put out by Hear Music..the music of Starbucks” 8:40:01 AM 12/01/05 “No, I haven't. Will seek it out on your recommendation, though... Maple just got a Sirius satellite receiver for her birthday. Pretty good stuff!” 8:57:13 AM 12/01/05 “Thanks a lot, Ewker!! So who TF is Damien Rice?? I might recognize the name of a band, hmmmmm?? College radio is better than most commercial crap and I listen to www.homegrownradionj.com when I can at work. WTMD 89.7(here) is pretty good. They are putting out an album this winter of live, in-studio artists who have visited. Mike Doty, one of my favorites, will be featured on that album doing an acoustic version of "Bustin' Up A Starbucks". Doty was here on a Friday afternoon last month before a Friday night show at a music venue in Towson. We have our own "Fillmore East" called the Recher Theater. It is an old family-owned movie house in our little downtown. The Recher brothers took it over from their family and removed the seats. Bands like Cowboy Junkies and Dick Dale have played there.” 9:18:34 AM 12/01/05 “MarkO, that is the reason I asked Tree what group he had been with. I just heard of him recently myself. I looked on Amazon to see what albums he had in hopes of it showing a band..no luck.” 9:24:35 AM 12/01/05 “Thanks, Ewker!! It looks like I'll have to get tough with Treebeard!! >8^O” 9:30:02 AM 12/01/05 “I tried punching up a couple of bios of him. Came up with nothing more than was already said, Ewk! Pffffft! Marko!” 10:02:57 AM 12/01/05 “Heh heh, yah, yoo too, radio boy!! I have heard the name Damien Rice on the radio but have not connected it to his music.” 10:56:50 AM 12/01/05 “What's the Nokia Theater like?” 7:26:04 PM 12/10/05 “Hey Bear! Never been inside, but it's supoposed to be a pretty innovative 2100 seat theater, where all the seats have good sightlines. It sounds interesting, but haven't experienced it first hand yet.” 8:20:26 PM 12/10/05 “Where it at??” 8:25:35 PM 12/10/05 “Hmmmmmmm. It's in Times Square. Might have to go there to see The Pogues. But Dani hates NYC. No offense.” 8:34:32 PM 12/10/05 “I had some spiked Nokia tires for winter in Vermont. You're really whack about the Pogues, huh?? last edited: 12/10/05 8:37:58 PM” 8:36:15 PM 12/10/05 “It's the MTV/Viacom building on 44th St and Broadway. It used to be the old famous Loews Astor theater...” 8:49:05 PM 12/10/05 “That 'splains it. 2,100 seats.....dat's big!!” 9:00:14 PM 12/10/05 “Love the Pogues. Never seen them live. I don't think they've toured in ages and I think that's why they sold out so fast here. can't understand most of what Shane MacGowan is singing about but that's half the fun!” 9:04:51 PM 12/10/05 “Dang Irish can't speak good English!!” 9:10:39 PM 12/10/05 “aye” 9:11:56 PM 12/10/05 “Strangley, Shane McGowan was born in England.” 9:14:02 PM 12/10/05 “Always understand the Waterboys, though.” 9:15:23 PM 12/10/05 “Born in England? Maybe he speaks with an English/Irish accent and that's why no one can understand a word he says? You got tickets, Y2?” 9:19:11 PM 12/10/05 Classic! “ ”9:32:52 PM 12/10/05 “I saw you were around and wanted to ask you a professional question. What the hell is all this digital HD radio they are trying to sell us? Is this some type of new way to transmit FM signals or is it just the same with more wattage? It does seem clear this is in response to the increase in sat radio.” 9:07:01 AM 2/23/06 “Good question! The way I see it (and I am not yet all that well versed with the new technology of HD in radio), is that you are right about it being in the transmission. The fact is, and this is true of televising HD also, that if you are not equipped with a receiving device that is also HD, then you are simply seeing the same thing that you would without the HD. Hope that made sense... Frankly, so far, I see the differences as rather subtle. I think there's more hype to it at this point. So, I would be cautious about throwing a lot of money into it. I would research it more thoroughly first (something I need to do to keep up with questions like this, lol) before spending a lot.” 9:17:18 AM 2/23/06 “That's what I figured. I don't have a HD radio nor do I see myself getting one. I couldn't tell a difference but then again I live about 30-40 miles from Dayton which has the bulk of the radio stations so my reception isn't the greatest anyhow. Besides, Clear Channel stations in HD would sound just as bad. And CC stations are all we have. LOL!” 9:22:13 AM 2/23/06 “True. CC in NYC are now boasting the "BROADCASTING IN HD" thing. They can broadcast from my freakin' living room and it would still sound the same in my car. It's a factory installed radio and always will be, no mater what's on the other end...” 12:03:32 PM 2/23/06 Nigal “Interesting web site worth a minute or two of your time. It tries to demonstrate the differences in sound between HD and the old style... http://hdradio.com/how_does_hd_digital_radio_sound.php” 11:14:57 AM 2/24/06 “I had a chance to hear Malcolm Holcombe about a year ago and have listened to his music ever since then. He's playing in NY in April http://www.malcolmholcombe.com/shows_set.htm Being the music man that you are, I though you might be interested.” 1:05:51 PM 3/09/06 “I am only vaguely familiar with his music, Chili. But, I am always game for a good recommendation. I must download some of his stuff and give it a further and broader check-up! Thanks for the info, Buddy!” 1:32:02 PM 3/09/06 “Yo Tree dude.....like have you ever heard of The Cloud Room?....Brooklyn borne band...they just played over at Maxwells in Hoboken this past Saturday with Film School.....check'em out man.... Also, if ya haven't already....check out the Yeah Yeah Yeahs..... last edited: 3/09/06 3:07:36 PM” 2:58:25 PM 3/09/06 “No, Strat. Haven't been enlightened as such yet. I will have to pursue that also... BTW, haven't heard from ya in a while. Hope all is well!” 3:00:29 PM 3/09/06 “All is well in the land of loopyness....thanks for asking Stu.... Also....another band i'm hooked on lately is The Magic Numbers.....this band is really cool....probably of the 3 I mentioned....this one would be at the top....” 3:10:22 PM 3/09/06 “Another New York (brooklyn, I think) band I found lately is called Bayside. Great live show and good sound. Their drummer was killed back on Halloween while traveling to Salt Lake from Denver though. I saw them on his last show. Tragic.” 4:04:00 PM 3/09/06 “As a music affecianado, you might be interested in catching Malcolm Holcombe when he comes to the big apple. NGB and I have tickets for the Laurel Theater in KTown tomorrow. http://www.malcolmholcombe.com/cds_set.htm” 5:07:13 PM 2/29/08 Jump to Page << prev
