I have discovered Ice Cream Nirvana! Starbucks has a line of ice cream out not that is the best I've ever had. They have a White Chocolate Fudge Latte that is enough to make you cream your jeans.

Are we still talking about ice cream??

I know whatcha mean 'Zac. Haagan-Dazs used to have a straight Cappucino that was wonderful. Just float about a tablespoon of it in a demitasse of espresso and sip the coffee through the melting ice cream... Great stuff.

I tried it with the Cappucino Chip they continued to make, but it left a sludge of chocolate and espresso grounds in the bottom, LOL

These days, I'm just going through all the Godiva chocolate variations, mostly. I used to stop by the Haagen-Dasz place for a chocolate&coffee milkshake, but it turned into a nascar memorabilia thing.

Oh, and you CAN make ice cream on the trail... even in Summer if you're willing to lug the ice. Did you ever see someone do the thing with the two cans? Cream, flavoring, etc. in the smaller can with ice and rocksalt between the smaller and larger cans. Put the whole thing together, the roll it back and forth on the ground with your foot for about 10 minutes.

It actually works. The first time I tried it, it was early August and like 95° outside. As long as you have the ice.... no problem.

Double up on the softsided coolers and hike fast! <G> Those fake ice things would keep the ice frozen longer, but after they warm up, they're just dead weight. I think this would be a good application for one of the Platypus Big Zips --- you could attach a hose and bite valve be lightening your load as you go.

As a side benefit you could accidentally drop a beer or two in the ice for the walk in. Even if you don't drink beer yourself, the brownie points and possible barter value would be substantial.

Glad to chat about this important subject
Being a bit of a conesuier of ice cream myself, I believe I amy add to the discussion.

There is a brand of ice cream around these parts called Turkey Hill. It costs some $3.69 per half gallon. Very creamy, smooth texture. My favorite flavor is Dutch chocolate. There is no aftertaste, and it never tastes watered down. It loses no flavor after I initially open it. Sometimes, a half gallon has been known to last a week and a half in my freezer (only if opened on a Friday, and we dissappear for the weekends).

I used to get hood, but I don't think I will anymore. Of course, there is always Ben and Jerry's, always at a premium.

Ben & Jerry's Cherry garcia is the best, the origial, not the one one with chocolate ice cream, nor the low-fat(boo hiss)
