If you do a search on this site you will find I have posted, on two or three occasions, a list of books that have recipes for backpacking--many for dehydrating. If you can't find the posts, I'll try and dig up the list and re-post.

I found some dried refried beans at Krogers that were wonderful......mmmmmm.....refried beans and tortillas.....& instant pudding is so refreshing on the trail....put dry milk & pudding in a bag....add water on trail & shake......anyone remember "shake a puddin"??

Bitpusher's Chili Mac
Ingredients:

2 cups dry elbow macaroni
1 lb hamburger
1 medium onion
salt (~1/2 tsp)
chili powder (~1 tbsp)
onion powder (~1 tsp)
garlic powder(~1 tsp)

Measurements on spices are approximate. Add more if you think it needs it.

Dice onion into small bits. Saute in olive oil in large skillet. Add hamburger, and brown it. Drain off water and fat. Add seasonings.

Boil macaroni until it is just al dente if you're preparing it to dehydrate. Otherwise, boil it until it's soft. Add macaroni to hamburger and mix well. Serve, or dehydrate.

Makes 4 servings for dinner, but I break it up into three servings for the trail.

bitpusher, do you just put that in a ziploc for storage after dehydrating?

Yep, and then in the freezer.
