Goin' to DisneylandView Messages“My wife and I are leaving Sunday. Time to do some urban trekking. Is riding the bobsleds to the top of the Matterhorn considered summitting a mountain? Anyway, I'll be on vacation all next week with no way that I can think of to get a TT fix. Maybe an Internet Cafe thing or the like? I'll compile some sort of trip report on my return, and share the Mark Twain Riverboat adventure with everyone. One more thing, no fighting while I'm gone, or I will ground all of you!” 12:36:42 AM 8/16/03 “I'm sure you and your wife will have a good time, but if you want any recommendations for Disneyland or Disney California Adventure, please ask. My daughter and I are regulars there. If we are both there the same day, we would love to say hello.” 12:44:16 AM 8/16/03 “land is the one in californy, right? we went to disneyworld and loved it!” 12:44:21 AM 8/16/03 8:05:01 AM 8/16/03 “Phil, I just got back today. Sorry I didn't get a chance to contact you before I left. Well, things went pretty well on this trip with some minor exceptions. At the trailhead (airport) the ranger (TSA dude) said that I needed further interogation so I got pulled out of line to board and he gave me the once over. I thought the dude was going to pull apart my shoes and shred my clothes! I finally got back on the trail, but my wife and I were unable to set together because the plane was full and I was one of the last to board, Southwest bus style seating kind of sucks in that aspect. (O.K. enough trail references or this will start to sound more stupid than it has to.) We spent all four days at Disney, including two partial days at California Adventure. We stayed at the Comfort Inn on South Harbor, I would not reccomend that place to anyone. The toilet leaked, and would run at various times through the night, and I think that the sound insulation was done with paper, we could hear anything and everything that happend within 100 feet of the room. The Comfort Inn website said that they had a free shuttle to Disneyland, in reality they do not. We had to use the Anaheim Resort Area Transit bus. Disneyland was great!! I summitted the Matterhorn several times (LOL), and Soarin' over California in California Adventure was awesome. Man, they did a good job of tricking my senses. I thought for sure that we were going to crash into Half Dome! I had a great time altogether, and I am happy to be back. We just got in at 5:00 and here I am posting on TT. I love you guys.” 8:34:41 PM 8/21/03 “Great report. How were the bugs? :) Teh Hyway family is going to DisneyWorld mid september.” 9:26:05 PM 8/21/03 “Glad you had a good time. Soarin' Over California is a real winner of a ride. Just got back from Disneyland about 20 minutes ago. Was wondering if someone would recognize me from TT and say hello! hyway - How many days will you be at the resort? Happy to give some advice and recommendations about the theme parks.” 1:20:58 AM 8/22/03 “hyway - Let me modify that...you are going to DisneyWorld, not Disneyland. Regardless, our family really liked MGM Grand Studios when we were there last.” 10:45:19 AM 8/22/03 “We will be there for 5 days and are staying at the Fort wilderness cabins. We went to MGM when my eldest daughter was 2 yo but that was in 1995 and I thought it pretty lame except for the Tower ride where you drop 30 floors of so in an elevator.” 11:26:19 AM 8/22/03 “I think a lot should have changed at MGM since 1995” 11:27:06 AM 8/22/03 “Dang Phil, I should have put this thread up a few days earlier. We could have hooked up and hung out, even had a BEER in California Adventure. I could not beleive that the drink of the Gods was available in a Disney theme park.” 2:38:20 PM 8/23/03 “Headin out with the family in July to DizKneeLand. Anyone have any advise on where to stay?” 4:22:10 PM 4/03/07 “"going to disneyland" used to be our euphemism for sex.” 4:39:44 PM 4/03/07 “Hey WK, We went for new years eve this year and stayed in a city about twenty minutes west of Disney. For the life of me I cannot remember the name of the city but there are a few hotels (we stayed in a best western) that run shuttles to the park, and don't cost an outragous amount. One piece of advice a man at Joe's work gave us that proved to be worthy of passing on: GO LEFT. Left once you get into the park. Everyone else goes right. And get those speed passes, they are awesome. Also, some of the best and least expensive food in the park are the smoked turkey legs and baked potatoes that you can buy by the big paddle boat/hall of presidents. Have fun!!” 7:08:46 PM 4/03/07 “First off, I am NOT going. but my boss is for four days. anyone have a good website to find passes and hotels (on grounds)?” 11:41:24 AM 11/12/08 “dang, you gotta have grounds to offer weblinks now? Obama is going to far.” 11:50:29 AM 11/12/08 “???” 11:53:38 AM 11/12/08 “ya know, on grounds as in ... he was fired on grounds of sexual harassment. she divorced him on grounds of abandonment. ahh, I guess it was a bit obscure ...” 11:56:38 AM 11/12/08 “dude this is for my boss...now get back to work and help me!!!” 11:59:50 AM 11/12/08 “you mean the one that wants you to come to jersey for your pap smears? You should book him a motel in alabama” 12:02:44 PM 11/12/08 “if he's paying, book him in the suite in cinderella's castle... If the company is paying book him in the cheapest room you can get.. like the sports themed resort... '32oz last edited: 11/12/08 12:11:59 PM” 12:07:41 PM 11/12/08 “LMFAO @ hyway....it is soooooo tempting!!!! shotglass, it is personal. his two daughter (20 & 24) wife and grandson (8)” 12:14:48 PM 11/12/08 “Daughters, 20 & 24, grandson 8?? More alumni of Breed 'Em Young University?” 12:17:13 PM 11/12/08 “man you guys are real pips today!” 12:18:39 PM 11/12/08 “My friend and her family just went to Disney World in October. I emailed her your question and she sent back a long response so here ya go: 1. Disney has a special. Stay 4 nights and get 3 nights free. This in addition to the magic your way ticket (with parkhopper) deals. Add $50 for park hopping (only charged once per person no matter how many days they stay. You can see that after the 3rd day, you are basically getting into the park for free. The hotels at Disney range from @$80 a night for value, $150 a night for moderate, and then how much are you willing to pay for luxury (which most of us can't afford). This is actually an awesome deal and would be really hard to beat anywhere else. They could stay off-site in a rental house or condo, but would have a really hard time getting a better deal than this. Trust me. We've done it both ways, and unless you are staying somewhere for free, 3 free nights is incredible. Also would recommend at least 5-7 days. You can save on food if you are careful. The meal plan is a super deal, but if you are really trying to scrimp and save, you can. Magic Your Way Base Ticket (gate price for admission to one theme park per day, including tax) # Days Adult (ages 10 and up) Child (ages 3-9) 1 $79.88 $67.10 2 $158.69 $133.13 3 $225.78 $190.64 4 $233.24 $195.96 5 $236.43 $199.16 6 $239.63 $202.35 7 $242.82 $205.55 8 $246.02 $208.74 9 $249.21 $211.94 10 $252.41 $215.13 2. www.mousesavers.com. Awesome sight. Lots of tips and savings. 3. www.wdwinfo.com 4. www.tourguidemike.com Not as many deals here, but is an awesome resource to help save time in the parks and make the most of your trip. I highly recommend it and would say that it was the best $20 I spent in preparation for the trip. It saved us hours from standing in long lines.” 2:47:45 PM 11/12/08 “Tell him to make sure he goes left at the entrance. Everyone else goes right. He'll have the magic carpet ride, swiss family robinson treehouse and Brer Rabbit's water ride all to himself. Then, later in the day when all those sheep who turned right are on the Left side of the park he can have Space mountain all to himself. =D It works. I tried it.” 8:22:46 PM 11/12/08 “going to disneyland is a euphemism for sex. everyone knows that.” 8:34:14 PM 11/12/08 “thanks for the info and the webistes :)” 6:06:11 AM 11/13/08 “I'm leaving for Disney World a week from today. Should be a blast.” 6:21:47 AM 11/13/08 “I just ran away from home now I'm going to Dizz Knee Land I just crashed my car again now I'm going to Dizz Knee Land I just robbed a grocery store now I'm going to Dizz Knee Land I just flipped off President George I'm going to Dizz Knee Land” 6:22:40 AM 11/13/08 “going to disneyland is a euphemism for sex. everyone knows that.” slicendicebtch 10:34:14 PM 11/12/08 According to urbandictionary it's a euphemism for getting drunk.” 6:24:57 AM 11/13/08 “umm ok, then what does this mean, "Mickey Mouse eats cheese" ??” 6:39:34 AM 11/13/08 “If you had said "Donald Duck eats cheese" it would mean smelling fresh as a daisy really doesn't mean its very fresh.” 6:41:57 AM 11/13/08 “so Mickies ears really are ears and not tea bags? sorry I had to, ok I'm off to hell now...” 6:44:35 AM 11/13/08 “I just tossed a fith of gin now I'm going to Dizz Knee Land (riff) I just got cuffed again I'm going to Dizz Knee Land (riff) Shot my gun into the night now I'm going to Dizz Knee Land (riff) oh I just saw a good man die now I'm going to Dizz Knee Land (riff) come on” 7:36:24 AM 11/13/08 “Just booked 8 nights at Fort Wilderness in October for the baby's first birthday. I've never been, can't wait!” 11:03:26 PM 3/07/09 “When we went to disney for the week that's where we stayed. Our cabin was right across the street from the pool so when we came back from the parks at midnight it was an easy dip in the pool before bed. I imagine the rooms aren't as fancy as the ones in the motels, but they had two rooms (3 if you count the kitchen), a full kitchen, Bar-b-q grill on the attached deck, and you park right next to your cabin. Of course its served by the disney bus service or you can catch a boat to the magic kingdom. of course, you may be using your camper. last edited: 3/07/09 11:17:41 PM” 11:27:15 PM 3/07/09 “Yeah, we're taking the camper and we're going to stay at Clearwater on the beach the second week we are down there. We got a full service site in the park, can't wait to see it.” 7:11:39 PM 3/08/09 “Next Friday we leave for 2 weeks of Disney.” 7:39:18 PM 10/01/09 “omg...have a GREAT time!!!” 7:39:42 PM 10/01/09 “Awesome! It's a great place to go and experience. It really affected me when we went. It's hard to explain. Something about the way all the people who work there are so friendly and happy and helpful. Have a great time!” 7:43:30 PM 10/01/09 “I can't wait to see all the ways they try to separate me from my money. My first time!” 9:39:38 PM 10/01/09 “2 weeks of the mouse is ALOT. I can stand about 5 days. You're a brave soul. Have fun.” 4:59:02 AM 10/02/09 “its a small world after all, its a small world after all,its a small world after all, its a small world after all,its a small world after all, its a small world after all,its a small world after all, its a small world after all,its a small world after all, its a small world after all,its a small world after all, its a small world after all..... Sorry if that sticks in your head.” 6:23:58 AM 10/02/09 “Ditto what DH said. Not only would I not be able to stand two weeks worth, I would have to hit the friggin lottery to afford it.” 7:32:03 AM 10/02/09 11:15:23 AM 10/02/09 “You'll have fun. I always really enjoyed it. The best time was when my kids were about 6 and 9. Never went for more than three days, that wasn't really enough time though.” 11:17:08 AM 10/02/09 “You can always ditch the kids at Magic Kingdom and go drink your way around the world at Epcot. :D I could handle Disney for two weeks...it's the crowds that I can't take. And the lines, my GOD, the LINES! *shudder*twitch*” 11:53:45 AM 10/02/09 “We went the weekend before Thanksgiving last year. This was just after the Dow tanked. We hardly had any lines. It was awesome. Are you going to Disney Land or World? lil - agreed on Epcot. My wife and I talked about how fun it would be to go with a group of couples and just eat our way around Epcot. This trip we were with our BIL and SIL and their kids. Anything more exotic than a burrito is "weird food," so we didn't really get to experience all of it. We did seperate one afternoon at Epcot and we got to make the loop and take some of it in, but not everything we wanted. last edited: 10/02/09 11:26:55 AM” 11:57:37 AM 10/02/09 “Anything more exotic than a burrito is "weird food," Lol, Laurel regularly asks for Thai or Indian food, and always wants tofu if I get some, no matter how spicy. She's upset we haven't taken her to a local Ethiopian (awesome food) restaurant with us; most of their fare is very hot.” 12:00:44 PM 10/02/09
