Butt Kicked- ADK Trip Report

“I just now saw Yam's remark. Why you little.....! Artex Jr. is very upset. Veeeeeeeeery upset.”

“The pictures look great and looks like a fun trip. How were the bugs?”

“Glad everyone had a good time. Great pictures. I to have one taken from the summit of Haystack, looking across Panther Gorge toward Marcy. I’ll have to post the trip I took this weekend to the Santanoni Range. That is if I can ever find enough time to write it.”

“Pennsy you're right, I took the Hopkins trail up, and the Phelps trail down. I knew Phelps was in there somewhere. :)”

“Richb - quite a few mosquitos and even a few black flies... no doubt the result from all the rain the previous week. No biggie though, I've been through buggier.”

“It doesn't sound like the bugs were too bad. That's about how it is around here, just mosquitoes and a few black flies.”

“I'm very happy you guys had such a great time. I knew you would and am still sorry I missed it. Not much has changed over here, still waiting for the shoe to drop and get my son into the hospital and into the support system.

“Just a few thoughts as I read through the trip reports and checked out the pics...

Apparently Twigeater cooks awesome meals. And likes to take pictures of Vermont wildflowers. I wonder if she realizes that "Adirondack" is an Iroquois name meaning "twig eater" or "bark eater"? ...something like that, anyway. Twig, it's a good thing some environmentalist hyper-purists didn't come along after Pennsy et. al., and ripped down those cute red ribbons on ya.

Artex, got his a$$ whupped ...on the first day! That'll teach him to stay outta the mountains for 6 months at a time. And what's with the wooden totems? ...such talent you possess, artex Arts-and-crafts-tex! On the other hand I have to admit that you took some REALLY nice pictures! ...thereby redeeming yourself. Lotsa good shots that include people in the compositions. I like that.

In that one picture, it looks like Buddur dog got his little doggie arse whupped too. Oh and Buddur, shut up about that filter already will ya?! ...j/k, Tom. You're so kind to want to straighten that out. Glad you made the trip. Was this your first to the Daks?

IceTea kicked everybody’s butt... Waytago, Tea! On the other hand, had he been in MY computer graphics class, he would have never passed the course. No way.

All kidding aside now, I could not have done all the climbing you folks did in so short a time ...even when I was a few years younger. Doing the entire Great Range in two days is a very impressive accomplishment! But whether you did only one or two peaks each day, you all have much to be proud of, because every one of the 46ers is nothing to sneeze at. You all deserve a lot of credit. Also, I enjoyed everyone's trip reports and pics (excellent scenic and panorama shots!), and it all made me feel like I was there once again. Looks like you had nice weather too. And how could a trip like that be complete without the customary stop at the Noonmark Diner?!

Hmmm… no one mentioned bears ...?

I'm hoping that all cuts, bruises and bug bites are all healed up. And that all feet, legs, muscles and joints are back to 100% by now. And that Adventurist heals up well and will be ready for more hiking soon.

I climbed Allen Mtn last Monday. Trip report and some pix will be up soon as I can get to 'em.

That's cool that Adirondack means twig eater. Twigeater is what the Algonquins called moose.

I was only expecting one ribbon to mark the camp site and actually only saw a couple of them on my hike in - so if they weren't there, it wouldn't have made any difference. It did make me smile as I noticed more while hiking over the next coupla days.”

“Hey Mister M - I suggested to everyone that we extend our trip and join you. They all started throwing rocks at me!

No bears Mr M, just vicious chipmunks.”

“It's a good thing we saw that one chipmunk towards the end of the trip. I suspect he was on a recon mission, and would return to his clan with information that pennsy hiker was back. Then, they would have been back in droves to seek revenge. It's never a good situation when you come out of your tent in the morning to face an entire army of chipmunks, standing in formation, and ready to do battle.

Yeah, you don't seem to be paying much attention to the girl tough.

Pennsy, 12.99 per 24exp roll for 1(4x6) prints and CD at CVS. Altough they charge .50 extra for per-panoramic.”

“PS: It took alot of work to get Little Haystack that color.

Its sad how much color you lose with a cheap camera.”
