“How do I make one of these? Thanks” 12:33:05 PM 8/18/03 “first, you search on the internet for "pepsi can stove"” 12:35:15 PM 8/18/03 12:36:12 PM 8/18/03 “LOL Limpy...that's what I did... here a link: http://www.pcthiker.com/pages/gear/pepsistove.shtml sorry, don't feel like html” 12:36:31 PM 8/18/03 “ahhh, stove stomper. found the same instructions.” 12:36:58 PM 8/18/03 “Excuse me. Thought I'd ask here in case anyone had actually done it on their own before. Thank you Stove Stomper for the link.” 12:48:05 PM 8/18/03 “Twinks, the only hard part is cutting out the big hole. I've found the best way for me is to take a box cutter with a new sharp blade and score around the edge of the rim three or four times. I then cut across the circle and the two half circles will come right off.” 1:06:34 PM 8/18/03 “I might have heard this wrong, but I believe that jerbear uses the appropriately-sized hole saw to make that cut. He didn't explain how he clamped the can to keep if from spinning though.” 1:08:36 PM 8/18/03 “oops, that should be "to keep it from spinning." Dammit, there's something seriously wrong with the link between my brain and my fingers today.” 1:09:54 PM 8/18/03 “Check out Binks site for 2 different alcohol stoves. Both under $20.” 1:11:45 PM 8/18/03 “Wounded Knee, my poor friend, you just don't get it. ;)” 1:14:01 PM 8/18/03 “Some people will freeze a water filled can and they find it easyer to cut on those. Spinning sharp edges, not a good idea. You'll put your eye out! ;)” 1:19:07 PM 8/18/03 “I've made several. It's fun.” 1:35:12 PM 8/18/03 “I've made several. I suggest brand new utility knife blades (don't get dollar store ones either) for clean easy cuts. The problem I had is joining the two halfs. JB weld didn't work. Flue tape, in spite of costing $10, didn't work. What did work, for me, was to make the cuts on the two halfs as clean and smooth as possible and press the cans together without any sealant. This is very difficult and requires some tape to hold the parts together, some thin scraps of can to use like bicycle tire changer tools, and lots of patientce. I only get one out of 4 of 5 that work without bending, but they do not leak. I use my Esbit for long trips but love the home made Pepsi can stove for summer weekends. Have fun!” 2:05:36 PM 8/18/03 “Save time and effort by making a Nigal Pepsi Bottle Stove. Just take your favorite alcohol fuel and put it in a 20 oz. Pepsi bottle. When you want to cook take a small cotton rag and stuff it down in the bottle so it will wick the fuel, light, then cook right over it. Use a 1 liter Big Slam bottle for those group trips. I'm still trying to perfect the multi-fuel Pepsi Bottle Stove where you can use unleaded gas too. Testing has been postponed until the grafts have taken. Happy cooking and tell them at the burn unit that Nigal sent ya!!” 2:25:35 PM 8/18/03 2:30:57 PM 8/18/03 2:36:49 PM 8/18/03 “Here's the one I made. http://www.freewebs.com/karofishesandhikes/ All you need is a soda can and a good knife, just be careful. I did use a steel rule and an exacto knife to make mine. Also Stovestomper, I used a carbide tipped etcher to make my marks and it works great.” 10:21:44 PM 8/18/03 wrong site “Sorry I paisted my site, It should be this: http://hometown.aol.com/walkingfire/halconstove.htm Hope this works better.” 10:23:52 PM 8/18/03 “StoveStomper & Jerbear got me hooked on making the dern things. I've given away several so far. I use the Jerbear method of crimping the bottom piece to fit easier into the top.” 10:54:59 PM 8/18/03 “I cut out the hole by first drilling a .25 to .5 inch hole in the middle. Then I use tin snips to cut it out. After that, I just file the edges smooth with a rasp. It's a fast, safe and easy way to do it.” 6:16:37 AM 8/19/03 “Unless you're really dead set on making one, Twinks, just smile nice at Stove Stomper and he'll send ya one. lol.... (ya just waiting to be begged, Stove Stomper?? LOL)” 6:32:34 AM 8/19/03 “Now would someone REALLY want a stove made by a guy named "Stove Stomper"? Really, come on! LOL!” 8:17:46 AM 8/19/03 “*speaking softly* "hmmmmmm, where did I get MY Pepsi Can stove???" Hey Nige, you better post disclaimers above or some moron is gonna use YOUR stove plans and then sue your butt. >8-O” 8:32:30 AM 8/19/03 “I'm planning on the Darwin factor to take care of the morons. LOL!” 8:33:55 AM 8/19/03 “LOL @ lizs! lizs did get a stove from me. I'm a gentleman so I will never say what lizs did to get that stove. MOOOOHAHAHAHA ;)” 12:17:45 PM 8/19/03 “;-) to StoveStomper and "LOL - good point!" to Nige” 5:33:50 PM 8/19/03
