Oh yeah, a stove. We have a burner that screws on top of those green $2.00 gas bottles. I have boiled lobsters on it before, in a pot big enough for 2, maybe 3.

I like the roe, but it may be an acquired taste. :) I ask for females specifically when I'm only buying a couple.

Pennsy just be quiet and follow me, it'll be alright. ;)

I'm going to send you guys an e-mail - we need to make a decision.

PS - for those of you coming from the south, nightime temps here lately are low 40's, daytime highs around 60.

I love fall! =D

I dont know if any has the setup but If we are haveing a campfire there is a tripod thingy that can hang a large pot or grill over the fire....

nighttime temps should remain above freezing I hope? ....

re:three hour tour - does that make pennsy = gilligan? :D

I think there's a grill over the fire ring, but I'm not sure we should depend on fire. If it rains and we have to wait to cook 'em, then we have to worry about keeping the lobster alive.

We were supposed to have a frost this week, but I doubt temps will dip much below 40...the zip for Millinocket is 04462 if you want to check the weather sites.

Gilligan? Yep, that just might be me DOM. Now, where is Ginger and Mary Ann.....

Tripod hanging grill - I have one of those and it's great for cooking over a fire. It's for car camping, so I won't be carrying onto the island. But, I can bring it to Avalanche Fields if anybody has a need for it.

Guess I better bring a winter pack :}

The tripod was for the lobster on the isle.... just trying to figure out how to cook a lobster. oh well theres always the old stand-by, cannabalism. :}

I found my old mat so a tent is all that I will need.

will resupply between bsp and the isle be practical?

I got that dirtyoldman, the lobster pot would sit on the grill over the fire. However, now that we're all back on the same lobster page again (I hope) who cares, LOL.

I believe we'll pass through Ellsworth on our way to Isle au Haut, there are grocery and gear stores and lobster places there. Even an LLB factory store.

I'm bringing a fleece jacket along with my usual fleece earband, wool liner (or next step up from liner) gloves, micro fleece top and pants, long johns and rain jacket. Also shorts and short sleeve shirts. I'll throw some stuff in my car for "just in case" then decided what to put in my backpack after we get a taste of the temps. I'll have both my zero and 20 degree bags to choose from - but only because my very old 20 degree bag is really a 40 degree bag now. If it was really a 20, I'd bring that.

Some friends of mine went backpacking this past weekend, and said they froze - but they also went swimming. :) It does warm up around 9am. I went biking yesterday and had on biking shorts, tights, thermal top, wind breaker and wool liner gloves in my bag. Around 9am I took all that off and biked in my shorts and short sleeve shirt. It was starting to cool off again around 4pm.

just so long as we dont have to smash the lobster open with rocks and eat them raw...wait, what do you open them things up with? hacksaw?

Softshell are easily ripped apart with just your hands. Hard shell require nutcrackers or rocks.

Oddly enough I have been having problems with the new e-mail addy, local server I suspect. sometimes it works and sometimes it dont...

The yahoo addy is still valid and I decided to keep it alive for a while longer.
