Lose your gear on the Airline?
I have posted several times before concerning gear that I purchase used at WWW.Unclaimedbaggage.com, and after this last trip to the store on Saturday, I am convinced that it is REALLY important to mark your bags clearly inside and out with your name and an address of a friend or relative that the airlines can use to return your bags....

I purchased a new Thermarest mattress with stuffsack $20.00, a new 30 Degree bag 1Lb.4Oz....thermolite insulation by Slumberjack...(Denali Super Guide Long) $20.00, and passed on a like new Marmot Precip jacket, (Blue) because it was a medium and I wear a Large...$30.00.

When you lose your gear, I will be seeing it later in Scottsboro....

But don't feel bad, I intend to give the gear I bought to Divinity...she'll get good use from it!

hmmm I wonder why someone would not want to claim there brand new Lap top?

sounds mighty fishy.

ask them if they have my 10 CD's that dissapeared out of my suitcase a couple of years ago.

err i mean my unclaimed CD's.

ML, they buy it from the airlines. It's stuff that goes unclaimed at airports. You know, when the airline says, "We lost your bag." That means it got put on the wrong plane, and there was no ID inside or outside the bag. Unclaimed Baggage buys this stuff in lots from the airlines, and resells the contents and the bags.

It's great for those of us who live in North Alabama. My first suitcase was from Unclaimed Baggage.

Sold at auction...
The Airlines sell the bags they recover but can't identify the owners of at auction....

there are over three hundred CD's in the store at this moment...

I'm four eyed, so the oakleys I would not have looked at...but there is a Huge selection of Sunglasses in there as well...

It's not unclaimed because people don't want it anymore, it's unclaimed because the airlines have uneductated idiots working for them who don't give a crap what happens to the baggage.

While on honeymoon in LaJolla, my wife and I went to a Norman Rockwell exhibit. We bought a framed print and paid good money to have it wrapped good for the trip home. I made the mistake of writing "fragile" on it, and when I claimed it after the flight, there was a big bootprint square in the middle of the dang thing. Broken glass and gouged print, courtesy of the airline.
Yeah, I'm still bitter. It doesn't suprise me so much is lost.

Of course, I'll take advantage of any good deals I can get from UnclaimedBaggage.

Believe it or not, they actually sell stuff like unclaimed laundry detergent there.

A lady bought a bottle of liquid Tide there once, took it home, and found cocaine in the bottle. Quite a surprise, eh?

that would have great potential for a good return on investment though, wouldn't it?

They have some sweet PDAs for good prices too. If a Tungstun T shows up there I may blow my load.
