According to stratdewd, the only "real" news in the country comes from Rush."

Strat I have to go a different direction than you on this one. He is far from a simple minded pretty boy. You don't graduate number one from West Point, become a Rhodes Scholar, a 4 star general and commander of Centcom with a simple mind. He also has combat experience, guaranteed to give you a realistic outlook on things. If the Republicans lose the White House, I prefer it be to him rather than one of the 8 idiots or Lieberman.

1. Strat needs to put hte crack pipe down and back away

2. Anything you every say, bp related or not, from now until the end of time, will be taken with the smallest grain of salt. You are a Dems best friend! You keep re-enforcing the Dems points. Please take yer head outta yer ass.

Guys, you are talking to one disillusioned dewd! He seems to think that since the stock market has gone up and the fact that interest rates are so low that a select segment of the population can afford to buy houses, that the economy is in great shape. I see no mention in his assessment of the amount of people out of work and the amounts of job cutbacks businesses are making. You may be able to buy houses and cars with record low interest right now, but the person who can't put food on the table couldn't give a rat's ass about that because he couldn't afford a house if it were marked down to 25% of its value. Ask the average person how well he or she is getting along, rather than some right wing radio guy, and you may get a different answer...

You forgot inflation: gasoline prices, home heating fuel, silly little things like that. And if gasoline prices remain high for any period of time, the cost of goods delivered by truck will surely go up to compensate.

Let's see, what things are delivered by truck?

Tree - Yep, Yep!

Strat - riddle me this: if Mr. War Criminal is such a great guy , why is it that under his "presidency" we have lost something like 3 million jobs? Only "Prez" since the Depression era to have a total net loss in job growth?

The stock market "growth" you speak of could/can be influanced by Companines like Haliburton and other defense type contractors reporting profits in the last quarter. Look at the numbers, and tell me what you see as far as growth. New home builds are down, that's a sign. I tell you what, you can ell your bullshayat to my father in law, who was an "Big Three" Engineer for 25 years and now works at Home Depot (as one of his two jobs), just to make ends meet. Or tell them it's OK that they lost most of there investments in the down turn in the market that it people should be prepared to work well into retirement. Or explain to my Grandparents on a fixed income, that they can continue to pay high cost of meds because the Gubment has no money for a prescription meds program, but they don't mind going in the hole (mind you---87 BILLION DOLARS) to rebuild a country that was suppose to have the resources to rebuild it's self?

Face it -- the best thing that could have ever happened to Gee Dub, was 9/11. His apporval rating was going in the can before it happened. He's taken advantage of the situation to scare us, take some of our freedoms away, pillage two countries, made NATO worthless and pissed of long time allies. And don't even point to the allies we have in this action as proof of being a uniter, he has done more to phuck up 16 some odd years of diplomacy...

Here's another, tell ME it's OK that I only got less than a 1% raise (308.00) this year, while all of my energy bills are doubling, child care went up almost 14 % over the last two years, or that not to worry that a can of phucking formula, that costed 12-14 bucks 2 years ago, now goes for 26 bucks a can.

Extremely well put and comprehensive. You covered more ground and more points in that paragraph than most of these supporters of this administration put together.

The point about the stock market is a good one. Those numbers mean only so much. The nature of recessions and the state of the American economy is a cyclic one. It is inherant in it for the wheel to come around and for the economy to look healthy. It is not a sign of a good president when it is left alone to run it's course and happens to look good with housing starts and good market numbers. A good leader will not run into the deficit game like a bull in china shop like this mook has. Sorry, but I maintain that this man has been the absolute worst leader of modern times. I will save all the other areas I disagree with him for anotyher day and time, because writer's cramp would set in before I could even approach the end...

Anybody (like me) who has to heat with propane, can't possibly feel that the economy is really good.

Pushing $2 a gallon. On a BBQ grill, it is rapidly turning into a situation where the gas in the thank cost more than the tank itself.

Every where you turn, your getting soaked and drained. Gas prices? Geeezz. When the Blackout happened around here, the first report was that gas prices were going up only for a couple of days and that the increase was "already in the pipeline" and prices should come down. Then, they point to the blackout, the pipeline break in the west and Labor Day weekend. Which I have to tell ya, I saw video of that "pipeline" out west and I gotta tell ya. If you guys are relying on a frickin' 6 inch 'round pipe to feed ya gas, that's more irresponsible than Nigal headin' out in the backcountry with a WalMart shopping bag for a water bucket (I had to do tha Wal Mart reset...:0 ).

So, now ..... all of these things have past. Iraqi oil is on the market, gas prices are up.... blackout was what...a month ago?...and gas prices are up....pipeline has been fixed....gas prices are up....Labor Day is a memory...gas prices are up....So what is it? I'll tell ya what the secret is:

Diesel is around the same and hasn't moved all that much. Most goods transported accross the States use vechiles that consume diesel. The shear fact that those prices haven't moved, tell me that that ain't no pickel in Georgie Poo's pocket, he's just happy to see me......

That is one reason why I like him, bacpac. He seems to have more of a comprimise type additude. He is a proven leader, I don't think that is in doubt. Anyone know, did Ike have any political experiance before he ran?

One dangerous combo would be Clark/Dean. Dean has a lot of cash, Clark has a lot of leadership. Both are very well versed in attacking Bush on the issues. I have a feeling they would make Bush look like a blubbering idiot and require a tune up on Cheney's pacemaker....

Speaking of pacemaker.....what ever happened to the "One heart beat away...." theory?

At this point in time, Bush is looking at approximately a ten point lead over any and all candidates from the democrats. That is not as good as it may sound to some. At least half of those polled feel that he is botching the economy. Ten point leads have historically been wiped out without much effort in the past. CLark has just announced his candidacy. A team of Clark/Dean may be something to reckon with. And no campaigns have really had any impetus to put on a head of steam yet. The dude from Tx is beatable, folks!

Welp, just fer the record, I saw and posted somewhere that out of the 36 Prezs, 31 had military experiance. Now, 3 outta the recent four (if you really want to nit pick, OK, 2 outta 4, but I'm not really sold on Bush jr.s military experiance. He's still techincally AWOL, right?) Prezs have not had any military experiance, with Reagan playing one in the movies and Clinton being a draft dogger and Bush jr sorry ass excuse for military service.......So Bush senior is the only one since Carter to have solid military experiance.

Maybe this has been the problem all along?

I've seen some criticism of how Clark handled the Kosovo campaign, chiefly the higher than expected civilian casualties after assurances that they would be minimal. Also the amount of bombing Milosevic withstood before suddenly caving in, contrary to Clark's assertion that it would be short and sweet. Any thoughts on the issue? Or any thing to counter these claims?

Man, I hate to see you vote for Dean. The guy just rubs me the wrong way. It has nothing to do with his views on Bush, I just think he seems willing to say whatever to get elected, not what's really on his mind. I could live with Clark, as long as he isn't influenced by the Clintons.

My ticket would be Gwynneth Paltrow and Tara Reid.
