The dog likes to roam in route to anywhere. Was economical to buy. It just drives eco-terrorists nuts!” 11:07:26 PM 8/25/03 “I want an SUV!!!” 11:21:17 PM 8/25/03 “a small economical one of course” 11:22:04 PM 8/25/03 “I didn't want mine at first (too big) but when I was on my way to Mt Whitney and let off the hook for passing a chippie going 97 mph, I knew it was my good luck SUV - so I still have it!” 11:30:25 PM 8/25/03 “Ahhhhhh... cuz it LOOOOOOOOVES ME!!” 11:34:20 PM 8/25/03 “I love my truck, so does my dog. Hey Mtn Mo, u comming up for Winterfets 2004?” 11:56:39 PM 8/25/03 Uh... “That would be Winterfest 2004” 11:57:16 PM 8/25/03 “mtnstve, have been thinking about it! Want to get to Lassen again, but can't do it on New Years. How long will you be camping? I may come a day or two later.” 12:20:29 AM 8/26/03 “I'm not too crazy about mine at the moment. I bought it a new set of tires last month and how does it repay me? It's in the shop having it's transmission yanked to have a seal replaced. And with the transfer case for the 4WD, that's another 3 or 4 hours worth of labor... Yipeee.” 12:39:32 AM 8/26/03 “I live high on a hill about 1200'+ above the surrounding area & work. I have a wrangler & my wife has an Xterra (to pull her pop-up). I plow a few driveways with my jeep & dependable help around here is hard to find. My jeep also has a wooden rack for canoes, lumbar & such on it's hardtop. I actually take my vehicle in the woods so I needed an 8,000lb winch too along with bridging material. It's a '95 with 150,000mi on it, so I don't mind leaving it in the woods. I work crazy hours so I wanted another for back-up. Ended up with a hyundai elantra. Dealer got me to try it by taking 3,000 off the sticker price. I LOVE it. Kept my jeep for winter & bought some knarly tires for the elantra. The hyundai went through everything & we had a bad winter. The savings in gas (before prices went up) paid for it.” 5:41:14 AM 8/26/03 Two words “V 8” 6:59:12 AM 8/26/03 One word “Tomato” 7:07:55 AM 8/26/03 “lots of room for gear I can load large purchases in it without a problem (recently loaded both a washer and a dryer with the rear door closed, also did the same with a new fridge) gets me to any ski area without a problem gets me through anything in NH that old man winter throws our way dog loves to ride around in it oh yeah, my Yakima rack looks great on it what I don't love about it: - going to the pumps - price of decent tires - just barely fits in garage due to height” 7:24:16 AM 8/26/03 “economical, gas and purchase all wheel drive good head room great stereo It's a Subaru Forrester. I have to admit, I loved the Ford Expedition I had in Fairbanks.” 7:28:47 AM 8/26/03 “I have a Forester. The only thing I don't like about it is I can't get as far on a tank of gas as I could with my GMC Sierra. It had a 30gal tank and on a good day I was getting 20+ mpg. I could drive all week and only have to fill it once.” 7:34:59 AM 8/26/03 “I guess we should be all thankfull that we won the war in Iraq so we have the oil to feed those beasts.” 8:00:00 AM 8/26/03 “You mean the oil that is at record high prices now?” 8:03:59 AM 8/26/03 “Hey, it's just gas. Just be glad it dosn't burn beer!” 8:10:46 AM 8/26/03 “"I guess we should be all thankfull that we won the war in Iraq so we have the oil to feed those beasts." I had recently thought about getting one of the popular import AWD wagons when I get my next car. The comparable wagon was $3,000 more than I paid for my Jeep, only had a 4 banger yet only got 3-5 MPG better mileage, had far less room inside, and wasn’t anywhere near to the 5,000 towing capacity as my Jeep.” 8:21:09 AM 8/26/03 “"I guess we should be all thankfull that we won the war in Iraq so we have the oil to feed those beasts." Yeah, it was touch and go there for a few minutes!” 8:23:13 AM 8/26/03 “npr sez blame the saudis” 8:27:30 AM 8/26/03 “LOL @ TT!!” 8:30:34 AM 8/26/03 “Nigal, do you go "eco-touring" in your SUV?” 8:30:51 AM 8/26/03 “"Nigal, do you go "eco-touring" in your SUV?" Um I don't think I do. I go where I get to and that's it. ????” 8:38:04 AM 8/26/03 Oops! “That was "eco-terrorists"!!! Dang, I misread! Have the eco-terrorists been doggin' ya lately?” 8:39:53 AM 8/26/03 “No, it is just in responce to the dumbasses that torched the Hummer dealership in Cali the other day.” 8:46:28 AM 8/26/03 “Chicks dig my Jeep Wrangler.” 8:51:39 AM 8/26/03 “Hummer Schmummer, what a bunch a stoops! Humvees are the height of absurdity but I don't care.....I'm not gassin' it. They look like the Canyoniero from The Simpsons.” 8:52:19 AM 8/26/03 “"Humvees are the height of absurdity" Why so? It's not even the biggest one on the market or the least efficiant.” 8:55:20 AM 8/26/03 “We have a Ford F-150 extended cab 4WD, V-8 to use up at the cabin in tool around in the mountains, haul wood, etc., but get way more use out of the Subaru which is great on the highway, climbing up to the ski hill in the snow and gets about 30mpg. The pickup is a 1992 and we've only put about 40K miles on it.” 8:57:30 AM 8/26/03 “SUV- SoccerMom Utility Vehicle” 9:01:08 AM 8/26/03 “And you probably think all black people can dance too?” 9:02:57 AM 8/26/03 “I recently traded my WRX for a Forester XT. Much better vehicle. No annoying turbo lag. Handling isn't as good, tho.” 9:03:35 AM 8/26/03 “Why so? Have you SEEN those things? They are too big enough! How ridiculous is too ridiculous?” 9:03:53 AM 8/26/03 “And all along a thought SUV stood for Status symbol utility vehicle.” 9:05:35 AM 8/26/03 “Around Baltimore the bigger the SUV, the smaller the woman driving it is.” 9:06:27 AM 8/26/03 “aero is right, they are SoccerMom Utility Vehicles. Nigal, are you trying to say that aero is an "SUV bigot"?” 9:08:27 AM 8/26/03 “An SUV-ist? Actually, I don't see a lot of SUVs (Explorers, Yukons, Suburbans, Hondas and those little KIA thingies) in the mountains; mostly pickups and an occasional Jeep. And the ranchers don't drive them; they drive their Eldorados into town.” 9:29:49 AM 8/26/03 “We used to have an office near a grade school and every morning all the parents would drop their kids off in their mini-vans. That was in the 1980's. Now therey all wrestle these huge Suburbans, Grand Giagantuars and, yes, Humvees into the drop-off zones. What changed? Are the roads worse? No. Are they driving through four foot snow drifts? No. Why are they driving those monsters? Because they can!” 9:38:12 AM 8/26/03 “ranchers don't drive them; they drive their Eldorados into town." For what kind of "sport" do they drive Eldorados?” 9:44:20 AM 8/26/03 “No aero you see before SUVs people who had boats and trailers and things to haul couldn’t haul them with the vehicles of the day so these things just sat in their driveways never used and that wasn’t much fun. You couldn’t even get to the mountains with the vehicles of the day, but SUVs changed all that. Now these things can be pulled and hauled and people can get to the mountains. Better living through SUVs.” 9:44:46 AM 8/26/03 “Steaks and women-chasing, pathman!” 9:47:33 AM 8/26/03 I knew that, “but it was such a great opportunity to degenerate the thread. ;-) State Fair time coming up here. The pick up population is already high in ABQ, but its about to go up 1000% or so.” 9:53:06 AM 8/26/03 “The cowboys up here usually pull their horse trailers behind a pickup or a caddilac! I bet Newgirl can vouch for that. We actually have more pickups tooling around than SUV's. Usually there's a muddy dog and a couple hay bales in the back.” 10:07:03 AM 8/26/03 “I got my Sport Trac as a sales car to start (cause i'm too young and manly for a car) But i wish i had gotten 4wd. My next vehicle will be a 4WD sport trac, or a 4WD f-150 crew cab with a Full brush gaurd. Sport tracs are awesome rides” 10:26:20 AM 8/26/03 10:28:04 AM 8/26/03 “and at what part of the ramdom day was it when you were drinking????? nice photo of your drink LOL” 10:36:33 AM 8/26/03 Are your cowboys dressed like this one? “Here's your old friend, Path! ”10:36:40 AM 8/26/03 3 tons o' tax breaks! “Tax write-offs for most business vehicles are limited so taxpayers don't subsidize luxury cars, but it dosen't apply to light trucks -including SUVs that weigh 6,001 lbs! So if you buy a Monstero or Range Roller you can expense it rather than depreciate over limited write-offs over several years. The amount eligible for expensing was supposed to be $25,000 for 2003, but the new tax law bumped it up to $100,000, so if you buy the $71,000 Range Rover this year for "business" you can expense the entire cost! Cool! If you're in the top 35% tax bracket, the taxpayers get to pick up about $25,000!! Sweet!” 10:38:59 AM 8/26/03 “Its a racket! Pay-off for campaign contributions! "$h!t walks and money rides a B I G S U V!"” 10:49:10 AM 8/26/03
