where else would you ask about this?
the cd player in my car quit working. it is manufactured by clarion. 6 disk cassette style. mounted vertically in the console. it pulls the discs in but then does not read them. it will go through all 6 discs and then tell me there are no discs in it. a few weeks ago it was playing a disc then quit before the disc was finished and said no discs even though there were more in it. i took the disc out and put the cassette back in and it worked fine. then it did it again with the same disc in the same slot of the cassette. i thought maybe it was the disc so quit trying to play that one in my car. now it won't recognize any disc in any slot.

I am having that same problem with my home system. 6 disc magazine is full, except laser is not picking up.

Don't know what to tell you. You may have to make a trip to your local electronic store for a new one.

It's probablty the sensor that is supposed to pick up the CD in the tray and it's not registering. You have to see if the cost of repairing it is worth it against the value of the player or a new equivalent. Some places will charge you, say, 50 dollars just to open it up. Then you have the cost of the part (usually negligable) plus the cost of the labor (this is the one that gets you by the short hairs). Best bet is to find a service center that will give you a free estimate and judge it from that...

Also, what is the warranty situation with it? If you have anything left on a warranty contract, by all means, go that route...

Treebeard is right it costs to much just to open it and look at it and then they will try to charge you to test it to find the problem!

Sad to say your best bet is to get a new on!

might need to run a cd lens cleaner through it..they sell special cds..but read the manual..some players shouldn't have this done to them

Could it be radiation by Marvin's space friends?

Mine quit during this trip just like yours did. I guess that it might only need cleaning. Based upon costs, I'll probably just leave the CDs at home and listen to the car's radio.
