REI outlet has some good down jackets at the moment, anyone know of other good sites for these?

No meat, just fleece! Straight from the sheep.

how I winterize...
I rub myself down with ukanaba oil and look for my very own Snow Nymph or Twinkle Toes to snuggle up with for the duration.

OK, I'm awful at knowing what women consider to be cute, so here's a link to all the fleece for women that STP has for sale right now.

The farmer's almanac is calling for another cold winter with lots of NE snow like last winter.

not so cold...
last year, I got to snuggle with someone very nice a couple of times. who knows about this year, but one can always dream...and Twinkle Toes is very beautiful.

I think a fleece bikini would be considered cute on women.

I didn't mind last winter so much. It was nice for it to be cold for a change. I had some nice hikes in the cold weather.

ditto Bit...
My first hike is planned for Nov 1. I'd like to get down and ride the Gizzard in Nov, can you do a weekend?

I thought it was a petri dish full of Martian microbes.

Perhaps...that's a good time for the Gizzard. I have a hike tentatively scheduled for late October, but I will get in a November hike one way or another...

Gonna take the Dog Hole trail? I don't wanna do the Fiery Gizzard through the gorge again if'n I don't hafta...

last winter blew!! thanks, bitpusher. i hate buying things online without being able to see what they really look like, but everything seems to be so much cheaper that way. also, i'm having trouble telling whether the fleeces are baselayers or jackets, unless they specifically say "base layer." i want a thicker fleece, like a jacket! there are some very cute ones on there, though, i must say.
lyra

Look for 200 weight, lyra. That's thick enough to make a decent jacket.

If you're really cold-blooded, look for 300 weight or expedition weight.

mmmm, this is super-cute! and cheap! even though it's only 100 weight...
lyra

I'll have to take your word on the cute part. But $70 is still a bit steep, I think, especially for 100 weight.

However, you are talking to a guy whose 100 weight fleece only cost him $10...

so, how are the Campmor Polartec 200 fleeces? anyone know? i'm sort of concerned that they have only cartoon-like images on the site, instead of pictures. sort of hard to judge the cuteness, don't ya know.
;-)

I think Sass has some of that, but I'm not 100% for sure. I don't have any Campmor fleece, so I can't say.

$70 puts loads of stuff in your range. You looked at the REI outlet. Patagonia is a personal favorite of mine.

I could be wrong, but I think that one fails the "cute" test...
bitpusher

yeah, not sure that was the colour though, the only difference is the way the pic was taken.
ynamiynami

It says the available color is "Amethyst". Now, in my world, that's purple. It might fare better in purple.

Well, I guess they're just being honest about there being no chance the thing will ever be worn in the backcountry...

Interesting - it implies that EPIC by Nextec is cotton based ??? WTF - is that true ?
