Man arrested for trespassing

BLUFFTON -- A man was arrested Saturday night after he entered a home in Bluffton and ate the resident's fried chicken, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report.
The incident occurred at 11:36 p.m. The resident was in bed when he heard noises in the kitchen. He found a man he didn't know fixing chicken and called the Sheriff's Office, according to the report.

When officers approached the home, they noticed the intruder through the kitchen window. The man was eating several pieces of fried chicken later estimated at $10. A deputy and a Bluffton police officer took the man into custody at gunpoint, according to the report.

The man told officers he and several others had been drinking alcohol just minutes before and indicated that he knew the resident of the home. When asked if he knew the resident's name, the man said, "Oh well, you got me," according to the report.

He was arrested, charged with trespassing and petit larceny, and taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center. On Monday afternoon, he posted a $1,087.50 bond for the petit larceny charge and $465 bond on the trespassing charge.

This reminds me of an incident that happened here in Huntsville a few years ago.

A family came home from being on vacation, and found a man in their home, eating a spaghetti dinner that he had just fixed himself. They ordered him to leave, and when he refused, they called the police. The police came and carted him off.

It turned out to be the former chief of police. I think they took him away and had his calendar checked, lol...

I vaguelly remember this story years ago. .. a family comes home from a day out to find that some of their furniture was busted up, some food eaten and some chick was sound asleep in the youngster's bed.

dub certainly gave an interesting account of the hike with OH.

Any body who hauls a 5 pound mallet in his pack for the purpose of driving tent pegs goes on my "never hike with list".

He had the munchies scorch

A guy I used to play Rugby with didn't turn up one Saturday and we discovered he's been arrested the night before trying to steal a car radio.
He was very drunk, broke into this car, got the radio out of the dash - only the seats were comfy and he was very sleepy - was woken in the morning by an officer tapping on the window.

I swear that Ohio Hiker is real. On the hike I felt bad for the guy. I tired my best to be nice despite him getting on my nerves. I didn't even mention his newbieness (like carrying the huge mallet) until he started slamming me on the other side. Then I let it all out!

So which side did he start slamming you on? Front or rear? Then you let it all out? Wow! what a trip that must have been!

A protesting trio from the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), one of which was dressed in a chicken outfit, stood their ground Wednesday at The Chicken Stop as they briefly protested next to the local eatery. Then they crossed Boca Chica Boulevard to picket the nearby KFC for the restaurant suppliers’ treatment of chickens.

But if you ask the manager for the KFC, the chicken crossed in search of water.

“They already hit me in McAllen,” said John Olivo, shortly before cranking KFC’s sprinkler system at full blast and soaking the curbside protestors.

“I was already waiting for them here in Brownsville,” he laughed.

We have a barbequeue chicken restaurant chain (St-Hubert) that has the story of how all their chicken are raised ehtically and not fed animal protein. Their food is good, too.

It was a battle of gastronomic proportions.

Bones sat in mounds. Cups were toppled over.

And a row of 11 men, some of them red-faced and sweating from exertion, wiped from their jaws, chins and noses the orange stains of more than 25 pounds of chicken wings.

Burp.

Three novice gorgers from Everett were among the competitors Saturday in the Verizon Voice Wing Battle buffalo-wing eating contest at Sporty's Beef and Brew, 6503 Evergreen Way. The competition was sanctioned and overseen by the International Federation of Competitive Eating.

The goal: Eat as much chicken as possible in 10 minutes without "a reversal of fortunes," which would bring automatic disqualification.

On the line: A trip to the finals in Boston, $2,500 in total prize money and the glory of having a belly worth boasting about.

The competition drew some big names, including Eric "Badlands" Booker, a 420-pound western New Yorker and World Buffalo Wing Eating Champion, and "Geobeet", a 58-year-old backpacker from Philadelphia who started eating competitively only this summer and is now ranked No. 3.

Sorry FiddLeBoy, but a journalist you ain't! Several errors here. I'm not 58, I don't live in Philly, and I do not like chicken all that much. Of all the errors, that last was most egregious. I guess Ohio Hick could best be described as "a usually unreliable source."
