Is common sense finally returning to America??
http://dailynews.att.net/cgi-bin/news?e=pri&dt=030904&cat=news&st=newsfoodmcdonaldsdc Another bogus law suit tossed into the fryer!

That lawsuit was stupid. It's just as easy to make a salad then it is to run down to Mickey D's and grab a couple of Big Macs. Cheaper too, one could use the money saved to buy a pair of decent running shoes. Sounds like a much more sane route then spending thousands on lawyer fees for a case that has the same chance at succeeding as a Yugo does reaching 100k miles on the odometer.

By the way, the famous suit where the old lady was burned by the coffee wasn't bogus. It turns out that McDonalds had been warned many times by their own restaurant consultants (among others) that their coffee was being served at too high a temperature (some 25-30˚ F too high), higher by far than was served in any restaurant chain and that someone would be injured sooner or later. When this and other facts came to light, Mickey D settled rather hastily. What remains is a corporate fairytale about Those Evil Trial Lawyers.

But Seriously Folks... <G>

This also reminds me of something I read in the "Letters" section of National Lampoon years ago...

Dear National Lampoon,

Please desist from suggesting that your customers throw bricks through the windows of their local McDonalds with notes attached reading "You Deserve A Brick Today."

Sincerely,

Ronald McDonald

And if the coffee wasnt that hot they would prolly be suing mcdonalds for serving cold coffee ,the suit is still bogus because the temperature of the coffee isnt what caused her to spill it. Streamweaver

The basis of the lawsuit was the lack of warnings posted about the heat of the coffee, and the woman recieved 3rd degree burns, which is pretty nuts. Still, it's not like a McDonald's employee came up and poured it over her head.

Coffee is made with boiling water, folks. It's gonna be hot. Dump it in your lap, you're gonna get burned.

It's been repeated so many times, it's worse than the Waking Up In South America With Only One Kidney story.

Yeah, trust a corporation to put your safety first... as long as it's in its interest to do so. Otherwise...

Super Size Me
February, Morgan Spurlock decided to become a gastronomical guinea pig.

His mission: To eat three meals a day for 30 days at McDonald's and document the impact on his health.

Scores of cheeseburgers, hundreds of fries and dozens of chocolate shakes later, the formerly strapping 6-foot-2 New Yorker - who started out at a healthy 185 pounds - had packed on 25 pounds.

But his supersized shape was the least of his problems.

Within a few days of beginning his drive-through diet, Spurlock, 33, was vomiting out the window of his car, and doctors who examined him were shocked at how rapidly Spurlock's entire body deteriorated.

"It was really crazy - my body basically fell apart over the course of 30 days," Spurlock told The Post.

His liver became toxic, his cholesterol shot up from a low 165 to 230, his libido flagged and he suffered headaches and depression.

When I saw that McDs was offering to exchange a salad and a water for the fries and a coke (extra charge of course) I thought it was stupid as owl shlt. I had one of their salads the other day and it's good stuff. I thought it'd be that crap bag salad that tastes like preservatives but it was a good salad. I know I'll have it again.
