I'm safe
Just in case any of your were worried, the fatal accident at Disneyland today didn't involve us. One person died and 10 were injured as the Big Thunder Railroad derailed. We go on that ride almost every time we go to Disneyland, so we are interested in what happened.

BTW. Tomorrow at Disney's California Adventure is "Primetime Preview" with most of the ABC fall line-up of movie stars. We are going and I hope to see the stars from NYPD Blue and Alias. There are supposed to be photo opportunities.

Jennifer Garner's bio says she likes hiking. If I get a chance I would like to invite her on a TT trip so she could get around some really cool regular people (...that's us) and have a good time communing with nature. What do you think?

Phil, no doubt she has some big goon to keep people away from her. So be careful.

However, if you did get her to go on a hike, that would be cool!

Gettin Garner to go hiking with us would be good for me, but not for the reason everyone assumes!! If I told my wife "we're going hiking with Jennifer Garner", she'd instantly become a backpacking junkie, thus justifying my need to go bp'ing all the time and buying new gear.
Good plan. You're one smart guy Phil. If you got a picture with the NYPD Blue cast, I'd be most envious.

The Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has a very innovative safety feature to monitor track failures. The railroad track rails are hollow and contain pressurized air. If a crack forms anywhere in the track the pressure drops and signals a problem.

However, apparently here the first car on the train (engine) came off and the then the rest of the train derailed. The man who was killed was in the front car.

Disneyland's accidental death record was pretty good for a long time. Then in recent years they have had several deaths (Sailing ship Columbia and Roger Rabbit's Cartoon Spin). Now this.

The truth is you are two to three times safer at Disneyland than you are in your own home. The most unsafe place to be is in your own home.

I think Jennifer Garner is a great actress and ALIAS rocks. She is going through a divorce so maybe she needs some hiking therapy?

NYPD Blue, ALIAS, and Antiques Roadshow are the only shows I watch on TV regularly. (If I had cable I would probably be glued to the History Channel and Discovery Wings).

Good to hear you and yours are alright. I'm sure everyone thought of you when they heard the news.

I saw a great t-shirt a while back. It said:

Phil,

had a few anxious moments this PM until I spoke with my Daughter. She has a Disney annual pass, and works very close to the park. She and her co-workers regularly take trips to Disney during lunch to do a high-end ride or two. It was a bit spookey until she called this evening..... reporting all is well.

You should take in another show at Fiero's, Mike's evidently backing away from the rock and roll back-group and moving cloer to his own music style. Better show than what you saw while I was last visiting. If you get the chance, I'd be very interested in your opinion.

Must have been those damn hispanics. Ask 'em. They'll tell you they're the cause of many such problems,

Strider - Thanks for the heads up. I might take in Mike's show again. I enjoyed his CD and lent it to my daughter.

BTW, here is the schedule for the abc Primetime Preview Weekend. I had to email Disneyland to find it.

Scary thing about the rides. That's true about being safer in Disneyland than in your own home though, even while riding rollercoasters. If you've ever tasted my homemade clam chowder, you'd know what I'm talking about.

My sister lives in Orange.

bacpac - I almost live there. Seven miles away and take my daughter about once a week.

Check this out from 1990

I live about 5 miles from Orange. My kids went to high school there.

Primetime Preview Weekend Report
Had a good time at Disney's California Adventure. We got to see a lot of movie stars up close, but anything around the Alias stars was a zoo. Alias definitely has a following. I would say The Bachelor has a following also.

Went to three Q&A sessions: The Bachelor, LA Dragnet, and Alias. The Alias cast was really cool. Jennifer Garner really worked the crowd well. I was really impressed with her.

Did get a picture of my daughter with Chris Harrison the host from The Bachelor. He was pretty cool.

NYPD Blue will be there tomorrow. Not sure if I am going back or not.

Made a webshots album for the pics. I got within 15 feet of Jennifer Garner, but getting a picture with the cast of Alias was not very easy. Some people waited 6 hours in that line and it didn't get very far.

Also went on some rides: California Screaming, Soaring Over California, and Grizzly River Rapids. Those are must do rides if you go to DCA.

Christmas in Disneyland
Today that is what me and my family are doing! We got in yesterday from Vegas (a driving vacation) and went to the park for a while last night. When we got there the parade was in action, what a mob of people. Happiest place on earth, busiest day of the year, I must be out of my mind. The nieces are loving it though. Not having kids of our own, Mrs Tahoe and I are having a pretty good time.
Today we go to the park at 8:00 this morning, and we've got to get breakfast before we go so I'll update later.
Merry Christmas everyone!!

Christmas is our favorite time of the year at Disneyland, but it is definitely the most crowded. Enjoy!

Crowded it was, but the decorations are beautiful. Tomorrow we are off to Legoland, then back for a little California Adventure.

Legoland is cool for kids or lego freaks...but only if it is not crowded.

At California Adventure, our favorite things are:

Aladdin Show (seems like Fri-Sat-Sun only)
California Screaming
Soaring Over California
Hollywood Tower Hotel
Electrical Parade
It's Tough to Be a Bug
Muppet 3D Show
Turtle Talk with Crush (Disney Animation)
Grizzly River Run

I concur with your suggestions at California Adventure. I have a feeling that pretty much everywhere we go will be filled up holiday travelers like ourselves. It is no problem though, I brought along a big old sack of patience. Also being the only adult male without kids has kind of put me in the pack mule classification. Uncle Carl the 'carry this' guy, HAHA.

My comment after spending over $100 for legoland tickets. "I would gladly pay that much to avoid Legoland". I didn't get the deal, kids had fun.

Tahoe - We have the attitudet when we go that we are going to relax and enjoy ourselves. Being annual passout holders we don't worry about getting everything in. We like the shows and parades and usually get our favorite spots early and relax. We love the shows also. So we get fast passes for the big rides when we can.

Enjoy! California Adventure is usually not as crowded as Disneyland.

Last Nov we took the kiddies to Disneyland Resort Paris. It was OK, the litluns loved it of course, but it cost way too many Euros for a scaled-down version of Disneyland. But next door was a Planet Hollywood, so we were able to finally hawg down some great American fattening foods for a change.... Now THAT was a highlight!
