removing a corn

It rubs my sandals there, I think is the problem.

Anyhoo, it sticks out enough that I need something around it to hold off the pressure of the boot, shoe, whatever.

I decided, THIS MUST GO!

I got the Dr. Scholl corn removers with salicylic acid. You put a patch on it for 48 hours, then keep switching it over a 14-day period.

Like I said, not sure it's a corn, but Dr. Scholl also had the same acid patches for callouses, so I figured, why not?

Soooo... what exactly happens in this process? It says at the end of the time period, "may soak corn in warm water for 5 minutes to assist in removal."

Does it kill or dry out the skin, so it finally sloughs off? Or what?

It seems the little pads have a tendency to come off with the shoes I wear. So I can tell you that right now, it looks like a big, white, hard lump.

Sorry for the gross topic....... just wondering what to expect and if anyone has had this problem?”

Not sure what a corn is either, if it's a built up skin callous you can slough it off with those patches. However, It may also be a bone spur, which would need surgery to correct. I've heard of this condition due to women wearing high healed shoes or shoes that are too tight.

Where's Bitpusher? He knows all or can readily find it. heheehe... and that's a good thing! I googled for "foot corn" and didn't really get much, at least with hits on the first page. One showed all kinds of band-aid things to put on callouses, corns, etc. It did say sometimes the corn grows down into the nerves of the foot, which can be painful.

I'm presuming it's what I have. I think I walk differently than I used to, almost with my right foot more flat footed. And that's where this thing is. I noticed my right shoe was rolled over to the outside -- as far as being worn down at the heel -- and that has never happened before in my life!”

I've got one too, on a little toe. I've used the removal things. It just softens up the corn so it will peel off. They tend to come right back.

I don't use the pads on that when I'm hiking, I just tape the crap out of it. This is the little toe that blisters almost every time I hike, the one I wish I could just tell the doc to amputate.”

“I had corns in two places. They were like real hard callouses. I tried the pumice stone thing for a long time but it only was partially effective. I would put mole foam over the corns for hiking.

I finally last spring I used the Dr. Scholls patches with the acid and they worked. The acid killed the corns and eventually they came off in chunks (near the end of the two weeks). Now I use the pumice stone to keep them smooth.”

HEY MAN, IT CAME OFF!! Geez, louise, only took like 4 days or so!! I got up this a.m. and the band-aid/acid thing was falling off. It was half pink, half white hard thing. Then it became apparent the "white hard thing" starting coming off, so I was picking it. (not EATING, just picking it)

VOILA!! CORN GONE! (now lets see what happens in the future with it, if another callous forms??)
