removing a cornView MessagesNot even sure what a corn is... “but maybe I have one. On one little toe, there has gotten to be a big, lumpy area, kinda like the beginnings of a callous. It rubs my sandals there, I think is the problem. Anyhoo, it sticks out enough that I need something around it to hold off the pressure of the boot, shoe, whatever. I decided, THIS MUST GO! I got the Dr. Scholl corn removers with salicylic acid. You put a patch on it for 48 hours, then keep switching it over a 14-day period. Like I said, not sure it's a corn, but Dr. Scholl also had the same acid patches for callouses, so I figured, why not? Soooo... what exactly happens in this process? It says at the end of the time period, "may soak corn in warm water for 5 minutes to assist in removal." Does it kill or dry out the skin, so it finally sloughs off? Or what? It seems the little pads have a tendency to come off with the shoes I wear. So I can tell you that right now, it looks like a big, white, hard lump. Sorry for the gross topic....... just wondering what to expect and if anyone has had this problem?” 6:17:42 AM 9/12/03 “Korn ROCKS!!!!” 6:25:04 AM 9/12/03 “thanks for the information on CORNS, walkindude. lol” 6:33:54 AM 9/12/03 “Most start in the closet but that's too obvious. Look between the mattress and the box spring first. Then take the bottom drawer out of the dresser and look under it. If it ain't there he's proably got it hidden in the garage or out in the woods.” 7:31:28 AM 9/12/03 “i never had a corn, but they now have this wart removal stuff that freezes them. Shouldn't that work for corns too??” 7:32:52 AM 9/12/03 “I have a nice podiatrist who says those little pads are the devil.” 7:40:35 AM 9/12/03 “im getting so turned on right now” 7:42:51 AM 9/12/03 “Use a soldering iron” 7:43:50 AM 9/12/03 “The salicylic acid causes the skin to slough off, same as callus wart, zit and wrinkle creams. Just stronger. It will start getting peely soon.” 7:56:44 AM 9/12/03 “Wow, excellent advice?!? Not sure what a corn is either, if it's a built up skin callous you can slough it off with those patches. However, It may also be a bone spur, which would need surgery to correct. I've heard of this condition due to women wearing high healed shoes or shoes that are too tight. I would love to look at your feet lizzy, can you come over tonight?” 7:57:15 AM 9/12/03 “LOL, Capn Bobo. I did show it to this old guy at work (who had just propositioned the office secretary not a week ago. I mean PROPOSITIONED!!) He just said, "Well, I'm not a foot man." LOL! Sass, what does he mean by "the devil?" Is that as in, it takes away business from him? Where's Bitpusher? He knows all or can readily find it. heheehe... and that's a good thing! I googled for "foot corn" and didn't really get much, at least with hits on the first page. One showed all kinds of band-aid things to put on callouses, corns, etc. It did say sometimes the corn grows down into the nerves of the foot, which can be painful. I'm presuming it's what I have. I think I walk differently than I used to, almost with my right foot more flat footed. And that's where this thing is. I noticed my right shoe was rolled over to the outside -- as far as being worn down at the heel -- and that has never happened before in my life!” 8:14:44 AM 9/12/03 “Probably Lizs! I don't know, all he told me was to use a pumice stone and to come back and see him if it got bad, not to try those little patches, they're no good. You should give us a play by play and tell us if they work, and how.” 8:18:54 AM 9/12/03 “Hey, you're in Iowa- you should be used to corn.” 8:20:01 AM 9/12/03 “Take a picture of your foot and post it. Will get Pathman to give you his best diagnosis!” 8:20:16 AM 9/12/03 “lizs corned some old letch at work, what??” 8:24:12 AM 9/12/03 “LOL! Corned!” 8:27:43 AM 9/12/03 “i always knew she was a perv! ;-)” 8:28:16 AM 9/12/03 “Try duct tape- it works on plantar's warts.” 8:39:59 AM 9/12/03 “More than you ever wanted to know about corns I've got one too, on a little toe. I've used the removal things. It just softens up the corn so it will peel off. They tend to come right back. I don't use the pads on that when I'm hiking, I just tape the crap out of it. This is the little toe that blisters almost every time I hike, the one I wish I could just tell the doc to amputate.” 8:42:29 AM 9/12/03 “lizs, face it, you are turning into a little old lady!” 9:00:34 AM 9/12/03 “Good ol' Bit. Foot.com whoda guessed. BTW, I'm happy that 2scoops lives far away from me! LOL” 9:05:45 AM 9/12/03 off topic!!! “you are banned. Liz...thanks for SHARING!!! personally, I like corns and callosses...they give me something to chew on when I get to camp.” 9:09:06 AM 9/12/03 Corns and calloses “Nature's chewing gum!” 9:12:46 AM 9/12/03 “ ”9:27:58 AM 9/12/03 I use my dremel... “to keep my feet smooth and soft.” 9:30:09 AM 9/12/03 “ ”9:35:59 AM 9/12/03 “You can take the girl out of the corn, but....” 9:47:43 AM 9/12/03 “gross, Violin! :-D that reminds me of some movie where a guy went to get a pedicure. that would be my nightmare job, i hate feet!” 9:49:20 AM 9/12/03 Warning: Graphic Material “I had corns in two places. They were like real hard callouses. I tried the pumice stone thing for a long time but it only was partially effective. I would put mole foam over the corns for hiking. I finally last spring I used the Dr. Scholls patches with the acid and they worked. The acid killed the corns and eventually they came off in chunks (near the end of the two weeks). Now I use the pumice stone to keep them smooth.” 10:00:21 AM 9/12/03 “Liz..just treat yourself to a pedicure...can't they take them off in the process. I've used those pads and they are Phil is right they come off in chunks!” 10:25:47 AM 9/12/03 “I think lyra is remembering a scene from "Dumb and Dumber", where the idiots go and get a pedicure and their feet in awful shape...” 10:27:01 AM 9/12/03 “Any pictures Phil?” 10:27:30 AM 9/12/03 “Violin, dude that was hilarious. The first was bad enough, but I almost fell out of my chair when I saw the second!” 10:57:31 AM 9/12/03 lizs... “I must confess...I never noticed your feet, I was too busy looking into your eyes. but if I had noticed your feet, I would have gotten my dremel out and given you a good pedicure.” 11:57:52 AM 9/12/03 I was too busy looking into your eyes. “awwwww! Bonus points for stikmon!” 12:01:39 PM 9/12/03 “LMAO!! yeah, uh huh. So who do I hike with first, you and your Dremmel (hmmm) or Mutt? ;-)” 1:38:48 PM 9/12/03 “I guess it depends on what attachments he brings (for the dremel)” 2:01:05 PM 9/12/03 “Have you been doing your exercises? I brought the magic suitcase!” 2:05:09 PM 9/12/03 “OK, so if it sloughs off, what is left underneath? Is it like scar tissue? or just lovely, new pink baby skin that also needs to be overly protected when hiking? (any got pictures of sloughing? If not, I'll make sure to get some when I slough. YOU CAN COUNT ON ME!!! lol) I think I got this thing cuz of sandals I wore a lot this summer.” 3:31:29 PM 9/12/03 thank you capt,,, “see lizs...they do like me...sometimes. hey bit...I don't get it.” 3:31:32 PM 9/12/03 lizs... “you better stay away from the communist b@stard. He's a real fuk head. (Mutt)” 3:34:19 PM 9/12/03 “A quote from "Stripes"...” 3:35:57 PM 9/12/03 “damn hippie sandals.” 3:40:37 PM 9/12/03 “It's not really korn, it's some other fungus from swimming with TT'ers!” 3:55:15 PM 9/12/03 “I was going to suggest a bolt cutters but the folks with the power tools beat me to it, so I'd go with the air hammer. Sink a shaft on four sides of the corn, load them up with dynagel, crimp in the primers and fire in the hole!” 4:12:38 PM 9/12/03 I like to suck on my corns... “get em reel soft then chew em off.” 4:17:46 PM 9/12/03 “Tilt has it... they are "damn hippy sandals!" LOL! HEY MAN, IT CAME OFF!! Geez, louise, only took like 4 days or so!! I got up this a.m. and the band-aid/acid thing was falling off. It was half pink, half white hard thing. Then it became apparent the "white hard thing" starting coming off, so I was picking it. (not EATING, just picking it) VOILA!! CORN GONE! (now lets see what happens in the future with it, if another callous forms??) Hmmm... I need to take and post a photo now, huh? >8-O ohhhhhh noooooo!!” 11:08:16 AM 9/13/03 “It was half pink, half white hard thing. lizs 11:08:16 AM 09/13/03 Does anyone want to touch that lizism?!?” 12:35:06 PM 9/13/03 “That don't call her the "Corn-Queen" for nuthin! and Where the heck is Geo? This field is well-plowed and ready for planting!” 12:37:23 PM 9/13/03 “I ain't sayin Nothin'!!” 1:05:08 PM 9/13/03
