We got puddles everywhere. Snow tonight and tomorrow. Should make the drive to Chicago very exciting.

I decided to try-out my mantra of old that if you wanted to find water around here, all you have to do is walk 100 yards downhill, and rather than come straight into the library, I guided the dogs across the street, then across the RR tracks, then downhill toward Hwy 20. Within 110 yards, we found a sizable pool (Sarabelle was able to take a dip). The drought is in recession. We're gonna win this war...

I'm happy for ya. In the future I'd recommend raising your goals a little:)

I'd love to not have any drought, but we've been D3 for probably a year or more, so dropping to D2 is a big deal.

I checked. 4/24/07 is the last map that shows my town NOT in a D3 drought.

We went from mid July 07 to late Feb 08 in a D4 drought.

We're still in what I guess you'd call D3.

Dang, WNC and SC are still pretty bad. We've had a really wet spring. My folks live in the western part of AL and had over 5" over 2 days last week.

I'm just raggin' ya. We've had our own drought up here. Last summer there was always water in my stream, though not much. This year the deepest part is 8-10 feet.

I mainly posted that because the more I looked into it, the more surprised I was at just how bad it was.

Does a D4 drought mean you CAN water your coon dogs but not your pot fields?

C - google "drought monitor" and it will take you to a clickable map.

N - An Atlanta nursery put one in a prime location in B'ham. It was the biggest, nicest one in the metro area. B'ham was on water restrictions all summer. No pools, no lawn watering, no car washing. The nursery property was auctioned off last week.
