“I know this has come up before (I think Tex said she had one of those Martin jobs). Anyway -- I ran across this link and it looks like the best selection of small guitars I've seen anywhere. Check it out.... Lark In The Morning” 6:56:05 PM 9/12/03 “Wow, that's a cool site, Tilt. Makes me want to pick up the gitfiddle again...” 7:08:50 PM 9/12/03 “I had no idea there were so dang many of those things! Those Lark in the Morning people are pretty nutty. Their print catalog is like Campmor's. Check the main menu. If there's some bizarre instrument you want to check out that no one's ever heard of, they've probably got it. Heck, they'd probably have 10 different models!” 7:18:29 PM 9/12/03 “I thought that the Hawaiian guitar and the guitar lute were particularly cool...” 7:22:51 PM 9/12/03 “wow, way cool tilt. i wish they'd put weights on there! lol. man, there's lots of them.” 11:26:58 PM 9/12/03 “Yep, there's all kinds of strangeness goin' on there. I'd like to drop by one of their stores in California and bang on them a little to see what the story really is.” 12:36:50 AM 9/13/03 “Last summer I was in their Seattle store near the Pike Street Market. I played the Jumbo Cutaway Guitar, it is on the "Lark In The Morning Brand" page on their site. (Spruce top, rosewood body and fretboard, moahogany neck) $340 It was nice and loud and played well. This guitar is made in Korea(rosewood plywood body) and rather nice. It is the only jumbo cutaway I have seen without electronics......I Want One !!! The "Lark's Travel Guitar" looks good for $250. I would touch that $99 thing with stratdewd's %@*!” 11:54:16 AM 9/13/03 “You would? <<GUFFAW>> But Seriously -- I was thinking the $99 type things might make sense if we're Really talking about the woods, the rain, sleet, hail, ... You could even use it for firewood in an emergency. Maybe a Second Backup kayak paddle?” 12:09:42 PM 9/13/03 12:16:29 PM 9/13/03 “Firewood! lol!! Don't tell the Lark people that! Since it would be too much trouble to build a collapsible gee-tar and have to restring everytime you got to camp, you're just gonna have to bite the bullet and strap that mandolin to the bak of your pack. My friend used to carry his trumpet (case and all) and play off the cliffs! Needless to say, I don't hike much with him anymore. It could be worse, you could play the double bass!” 12:20:20 PM 9/13/03 “well, a pennywhistle is lots lighter and clears out the Music Critics just as well (or better), LOLOL And Even at $99, that's some pricey firewood! I Do admit, I was also thinking about something with a removable neck (it's such a bit˘h when you get your peghead caught in the bushes). A mandolin or mandola is also a possibility. How's about a mando-cello? Or a... mando-banjo?? ”12:41:10 PM 9/13/03 “Rock On, Strongbad!! (watch out for that damn dragon, LOL)” 12:48:05 PM 9/13/03 “Oh, shucks! That should have been, "wouldn't"....” 1:12:01 PM 9/14/03 “suuuuuuuuuuuuuure. (Still LMAO!)” 1:16:36 PM 9/14/03 Mondo Banjo “Banjo just cain't do mellow :P A banjo with a removable neck would be cool! I would hide the neck :]” 1:18:13 PM 9/14/03 “As they saying goes, a banjo isn't really a musical instrument... it's a Contraption. ;^)” 1:29:52 PM 9/14/03 “Its an unholy thing!” 1:59:08 PM 9/14/03 “artex, lmfao! that was freeking laharryass! tilt, yeah....i would have to play any of them before i bought one. i'll just stick to my boy's 3/4 size, $49 special till then....it plays ok for a toy guitar.....like you said, no way would i wanna put my fender 12 string through the rigors os a dork hiking through the wilderness.....” 10:53:16 PM 9/14/03 “artex, lmfao! that was freeking laharryass! tilt, yeah....i would have to play any of them before i bought one. i'll just stick to my boy's 3/4 size, $49 special till then....it plays ok for a toy guitar.....like you said, no way would i wanna put my fender 12 string through the rigors of a dork hiking through the wilderness.....” 10:53:22 PM 9/14/03
