Truce!
Since I was instrumental i starting some of the flame wars, I'll be the one to call a truce. As we all know, it's hard to express sarcasm, etc. on an internet site, sometimes our (my) posts can be easily interpreted as something they were not meant to express.

Sometimes these political debates are enjoyable and informative, if they're not, then we've crossed a line. If I did, I will publically announce that I regret having done so.

I'm an old hippie
Sometimes I revert back to my college days in the late '60's, you know, the old "Make Love, Not War" slogans & all that "peace & tranquilty" stuff!

(No, don't take that literally, I don't wanna make to love to anyone on TT though!!)

I read that make love not war line and did a double take. "Did he just leave an opening like that here? This is going to be too easy!". Then you ruined my fun with the last line.

Bottom line is we all have days when we get out of hand. Violin also has days when he's not an A-hole, but then again, he doesn't post every single day either.

Rule #1: Don't visit Violin's homepage.

Rule #2: (new) Don't shake Violin's hand.

Yes, but that second rule has nothing to do with the buzzer and everything to do with what he keeps in his pack.

Wanderer is an old hippie? I thought that we all were supposed to be old or new hippies, save the environment, grow more flowers, eat pesticide free foliage, etc.

When I was 18 - 19 and in college, "make love not war" was favorite slogan of many, many males, certainly everyone in my fraternty house.

Anything that helped, if ya' know what I mean! We didn't give a flip about anything else! LOL

Pretty sad. We all just played at being concerned for the environment. Maybe that is how we got to today with rivers supplying drinking water treatment plants with sewage laden water. Hey they filter it and chemically treat it so it is okay to drink, sounds yummy right? I fear that the environment will be so degraded in thirty years.

Those who can, do it. Those who can't, worry about the environment. j/k

We were concerned
Lyndy, we WERE concerned. However, speaking from the male perspective (and no I don't purport to represent ALL males), I think at 18 or 19 the REASON many of us were concerned about the environment & related issues was because we could meet babes. That's it, pure & simple.

That's not a surprise, is it?

+20 points for honesty. And who says ya can't save the world AND get a little?

Life is scary!
I'm still going back to Lyndy's post, and I'm surprised (if I'm reading into it correctly) that's she's surprised!

I have two teenagers, one male & one female. Of course I love them more than anyone can imagine, anyone who is a parent knows whereof I speak.

It is MY JOB to tell my teenage daughter the facts of life. The facts of life include the fact that most males will say just about anything, or let you believe just about anything, to get in your pants. Period, no discussion necessary, that is their objective.

I have similarly frank discussions with my teenage son, and his friends. If they think for one minute I don't know why they do some of the things they do... well does it look like I just fell off the turnip truck yesterday?

I know I'm not crazy here, am I?
