“For those who haven’t been around that long, Ice Tea has asked that people give him a break on spelling. He claims it is not the result of laziness and I don’t believe he is stupid (at least no dumber than the average conservative – sorry couldn’t resist).

There are various disorders that could cause one to spell like a Tralfamadorian. Perhaps it is unfair to razz him about something beyond his control.

I’d hate to think that there are people who won’t post here because they don’t want to be jumped on because of a disability or gasp a deficient education. We might be missing out on some good posts. Everyone has something to contribute, even if they have trouble expressing it in the written form.


BTW – if you take out the scores from our seriously underfunded urban and rural schools, education in this country is performing quite well.”

We need to start holding kids and parents for that matter, to a higher level, not dumbing eveything down to make it look like a good job is being done.”

“Spelling Schmelling...when I was in college the whole side of campus where I took classes was a spelling waste land. It was called the School of Engineering. I had a hard time getting close enough for the spell checker to work. I don't know if I have gotten better or if the spell checkers have.

I'm a member of a local civic club(Kiwanis) and all the local civic groups have a yearly spelling bee to raise funds for education. This year all 4 of our members that participated were engineers. We won!”

I'm still waiting.......

that was all i said about this issue. I have thickened my skin alot. I felt this was uncalled for.
Briar, you have made it known that you dislike me, I have nothing against you. In fact I was looking at your photo page and wanted to ask you a couple of questions about them but you do not provide an email address. so I let it go. I ignore trolls, but the last two batches were very bad. they were messing with my personal life. That is were I draw the line. This is a place of fun. I have made friends here. I worry about them, if they are caught in a storm or if there child is sick or if they have broken a rib. I have opened my home to these people.
So when i got attacked like that it did not hurt me, it's was more embarrassing and it sucked the fun out of visiting here.

This is not a crying session.
