I sure hope the blue & red guys are wrong....still...we will be on the east side of the storm....not good....
...we don't have to worry about flooding...we are about 200 ft above sea level....but we have to worry about the wind.....

“I'm looking at the maps and historically a storm like Hannah will turn north but most models have her turning south toward Cuba ---- WTF?”

“hanna will be good for a nice day of Kite flying, but Ike has me nervous. I imagine coming across The Bahamas will weaken it and, if it turns to the north, following in so close behind Hanna it will find much cooler water than it would have earlier this week. Hopefully the combination will keep it from growing back to a Cat 3 or 4. But I am not a hurricane expert, so thinking about that well formed storm coming behind the heavy rains of Hanna makes me nervous about flooding and the loss of many trees/power poles due to the soggy ground”

“It appears that the worse is over for Melbourne, Florida. We're still getting some rain clouds dripping water on us, but Hanna is past. Ike appears to be headed for the Gulf side of Florida. My guess is that it will pass even further west.

I've delayed my trip a week, but I'm now planning to start it tomorrow or Sunday. But I will stop in northern Florida to watch Ike. The price of gas has now become an important consideration. I don't want to have to return all the way from GSMNP to try to salvage any of my things that might be left.”
