Looks like the trek Fran had a few years ago.” 3:53:18 PM 8/28/06 “Why do tropical storms and hurricanes always come through/by Jacksonville between 2 and 4 am?” 7:09:40 AM 8/29/06 “To avoid the traffic.” 7:10:53 AM 8/29/06 “nyuck nyuck nyuck...” 7:12:10 AM 8/29/06 “Ha, ha! I get to be hit before you.” 7:21:38 AM 8/29/06 “What's your prize?” 7:27:48 AM 8/29/06 “A free evacuation!” 7:31:34 AM 8/29/06 “well this morning it looks like it is moving more west than north, not good for me. guess i better not relax yet.” 7:41:54 AM 8/29/06 “Hey at least the Northeast will be getting some badly needed rain right?” 7:43:17 AM 8/29/06 “dang it all there goes the weekend” 7:57:39 AM 8/29/06 “Georgia needs the rain more than the northeast right now. A lot of the state has been under drought conditions for years. Farmers are in bad shape there.” 7:59:28 AM 8/29/06 “my thoughts exactly HOI. The Grayson Highlands weather can turn bad all on its own without the help of a freaking tropical storm” 8:03:06 AM 8/29/06 “Georgia is dry, granted not on my place by the lake (lake is down like a couple of feet, but my land is getting just enough rain to make the grass grow like crazy. Well a nice Tropical Storm or rain event is just what we need.” 8:15:01 AM 8/29/06 “The way Wunderground.com keeps changing the positions of the spaghetti lines indicates to me that none of them have any real idea of what is going to happen. But, whatever, it will be happening soon. And then they will all be claiming to have predicted the events perfectly. In the meantime, Wunderground.com is driving me nuts with their mouse-over pop-up ads. A few other sites are doing it, too. I wish sites would give us an option of ads, no ads or a fixed percentage of ads. This would give them an understanding of how much we enjoy the crap on our screens. I have sworn to never respond to any of the ads like these. Only if I select to chick on an ad, is there any chance of my making a purchase. Well, back to the weather. Hurricane alert.” 11:18:21 AM 8/29/06 “The spaghetti lines are trying to meet on the Eau Gallie Causeway over the Indian River Intercoastal Waterway. Even the single prediction forecast track has moved close to Melbourne in Brevard County. I'm sure that this is based strictly on the fact that all four major hurricanes four years ago all hit Melbourne. They realize that Melbourne attracts Hurricanes. I even remember David, the eye of which passed direct over my motel just a little north of Melbourne back around 1979. And, a few years ago, Irene came across the state to hit us. It was supposed to taper off as it crossed land, but it held-up and did a lot of damage here. For a live report on living through Irene, scroll down at Dennis, Floyd, Irene - Now Hurricane Ch arlie I better quit watching. I have to finish the dishes and do the laundry, before doing some shopping. last edited: 8/29/06 12:12:54 PM” 12:05:15 PM 8/29/06 “The eye of David passed over me as well. I was in orlando for navy boot camp.” 12:07:09 PM 8/29/06 “I don't know if it's associated with the storm but it's beautifully breezy outside right now. Perfect for drying all the stuff on the clothesline.” 12:27:41 PM 8/29/06 “ I hate the local stations here. THey get you all keyed up about worse case scenarios, show all the damage from a mild tornado here yesterday, and then say "Now, don't panic!" Sheesh! Well, I'd like to say something other than "sheesh" but the censors would take it out. I also have an audience here.”Perhaps we should have a protest, TV bonfire!” 1:13:21 PM 8/29/06 FOR SALE “On SPECIAL, TODAY ONLY. Florida hikers keep posting so we know the state is not under water.” 2:32:30 PM 8/29/06 “nomad...you do know that Florida is more or less above sea level (as opposed to New Orleans (the big GIMME).” 2:37:07 PM 8/29/06 “We like to be referred to as "well-drained"” 3:01:35 PM 8/29/06 “LOL @ humanpackmule. I may be safe. Predicted track coordinates have Ernesto passing slightly west of Orlando before it turns back toward the Atlantic Ocean. Overall, the predicted track has shifted a little to the West during the past 24 hours, as of 11 A.M. today. last edited: 8/29/06 3:10:58 PM” 3:08:12 PM 8/29/06 “LOL...HPM, in the late 80s I was in Savannah, we had the spring tides that would push the water over the roadways out towards the islands. One morning one of our Phi Beta Kappas came in and commented that the rain was really flooding the intercoastal Waterway and the waterways to the beach.” 3:16:43 PM 8/29/06 “FUnny XL, I was living near Savannah for a few years about that time too. NASA's sending the shuttle back out to the launch pad. Interesting. And here's a big DUH: http://www.firstcoastnews.com/news/florida/news-article.aspx?storyid=63742” 3:20:38 PM 8/29/06 “treebait - Thanks for the information on the shuttle. For their action they must have confidence in the forecasted path of Ernesto, in the strength of the winds or both. So, maybe now I won't have to evacuate my trailer.” 3:52:48 PM 8/29/06 “Hey NS, you wearing a red shirt today? One of our local reporters was down in your area, and the place looked exactly like the photos you posted from '04. THere was a shot of a man wearing a red or salmon colored shirt who looked an awful lot like you.” 6:08:58 PM 8/29/06 “No, I had blue on this morning. Currently, I have a large, white beard. Then, when I headed to the pool hall, I was wearing a white t-shirt. I did not play, and left after one cup of coffee. Been home ever since. Why were they showing Melbourne? Hope it is not the "before" of a "before and after Ernesto!" By the way some breezes started here about one hour ago. Lying down while watching Casa Blanca on TV for the 1,xxx time, I could see the tree tops blowing out front across the big field across from my place. (No senior center with a 200-car parking lot there, yet.) Ernesto winds have climbed up to 45 mph with gusts to 55. Stronger gusts from this thing could take down my previously damaged wall on the Florida Room. So I hope it holds its' course to west of Orlando and then swings out to sea between us. last edited: 8/29/06 7:27:26 PM” 7:24:02 PM 8/29/06 “nowslimmer, only 130 for lot fees? Sign me up!” 7:27:25 PM 8/29/06 “I tried accessing wunderground a few minutes ago and got a "This site is overloaded" message.” 7:27:49 PM 8/29/06 “Only chicks age 55 and over are permitted. Previously, one had to buy their place outright. Now, since it became a Senior Park a few years ago, they do permit mortgages. And you have to be approved by a committee. When I got in here, the Park Manager was the entire committee. He gave me a hard time until a friend went to bat for me. last edited: 8/29/06 7:35:46 PM” 7:34:20 PM 8/29/06 “Just be glad it wasn't Nimblefoot!” 8:59:39 PM 8/29/06 “:( If I put on a wig, I could look 55” 9:01:02 PM 8/29/06 “Dang...the storm is moving at 8 MPH...meaning flooding no matter where you are.....needs to speed up a bit” 9:39:50 PM 8/29/06 “-- Hurricane watch lifted for all of Florida, but remains in effect for coastal areas of Georgia and the Carolinas, National Hurricane Center Says.” 12:17:56 AM 8/30/06 “Rain started 15 minutes ago. For about 10 minutes it was coming down in buckets. Then it quit for a few minutes and now is returning. This should be an interesting day.” 2:03:37 AM 8/30/06 “At the computer models page at wunderground, the GFDL model shows the storm shooting straight up to Ontario. NOGAPS has it detouring through Michigan. Neat.” 6:22:08 AM 8/30/06 “WELL GREAT...and I just found out what a CUBIT was......” 7:33:39 AM 8/30/06 “Cool, the upper level clouds from the storm are coming from the south now. If I look south it's just a big dark mass. Guess I'd better move small flower pots and stuff like that down to ground level.” 8:39:47 AM 8/30/06 “all is good on the pinellas waterfront(west coast). dreary, cloudy and raining alittle. its suppose to pick up later on, but we're not expecting much out of this one.i never did get prepared so i'm glad it didn't come my way. where they have it plotted now it looks as if it will emerge into the gulf rather than heading east.” 9:22:09 AM 8/30/06 “http://www.wunderground.com/tropical/tracking/at200605_n0z.html?extraprod=n0z#a_topad THe radar loop looks pretty cool right now. It's showing rain just below the county line here.” 9:40:31 AM 8/30/06 “Dang! I just went outside and it felt like I went swimming in a heated pool, it's so humid. Can't wait for the rain to get here and hopefully cool things off slightly.” 9:47:40 AM 8/30/06 FLORIDA SLAMS ERNESTO. “It ain't gonna rain here no more!” 10:56:16 AM 8/30/06 “That radar loop shows a good sized rain storm here, but nooooo.... Where's my rain Damnit! We need rain!” 11:14:56 AM 8/30/06 “We're finally getting a heavy drizzle of rain, and the thunder finally started up. Yay, real weather.” 8:34:11 PM 8/30/06 “It had been mostly missing us since this afternoon. But it started to rain in earnest here about 20-minutes ago. The intensity had been increasing. The coordinates show the center almost overhead. The storms seem to cover most of Florida and additional places further north. This may be a long night. Enjoy it.” 8:52:47 PM 8/30/06 “Spoke to my sis in Plantation and she never mentioned the storm, that is a good sign. You all deserve a break. She still has substantial damage from last year.” 8:56:19 PM 8/30/06 “We got a little rain and one good gust of wind but that was it. I wouldn't mind several days of a steady drizzle to get the water levels back up where they belong. It'd drive a lot of the locals crazy though. Floridians don't handle grey days well.” 6:56:14 AM 8/31/06 “Raining In Wilmington, NC. Winds are slight, but this is the outer band.” 7:01:23 AM 8/31/06 Jump to Page << prev
