Livonia at 95% white

RL, I think its actually 97% LOL. Yep I live in the most racially polarized town in Michigan. Oddly, I grew up in a town where there was overt clan activity (big ceremonies etc, the grand dragon lived 7 miles from my house). I hear more bigotry and racism here in Livonia though.

more livonia facts...

one of the highest percentage of married people state wide and is annually voted as one of the top ten communities for raising a family (based on schools, crime, city services taxes etc...) of 100k residents nationwide, last year it was #7.

I hear your, birch. Two apartments ago, I lived in a town that was known to have Klan rallies on a farm south of town.

One of my favorite things to do when I have visitors from out of state is to drive them through the Pointes or one of the other near-in suburbs and then across the border into Detroit. It is literally rich to poor, white to black in a finger snap. It is one of the wonders of the world.

I saw a documentary on this issue a few weeks ago. Apparently, insurance companies actually required that a section of wall be built between the city and suburbs at one point. And it's still there, keeping the whites from the blacks.

Is it any wonder that you don't see black people camping?

Sorry. I'm going to retract my slam on the insurance companies. It was a federal agency - the FHA - that required that a white developer build a wall on the Detroit border to keep the blacks out.

It is still there. They've got a picture on the Metro Times web site.

The line of distinction is stark to say the least. Crossing telegraph near me is crazy.

My town has loads of work to do. I like that lots of residents have moved west for a new Mc Mansion (you cant get one here pretty much). This leaves opportunities for some new faces nd colors. We have quite a few new central asian families moving in. I hope we get more.
