We spent the last few days in Yosemite, where I got a chance to solo climb Mt Hoffmann. We did a few other hikes, too.

Wonderful Journey!

That hidden lake looks like a cool place to go...hint, hint.

Seeing your son walking on the trail brings back floods of memories for me ...Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that was a grouse...they make tons of noise during "lift off" LOL!

I'll go even further and say it's a Blue Grouse. I was jumped by one just a few days ago on the shore of Wire Lake in Emigrant Wilderness. Damn birds!

Great shots! It was pretty interesting to hear you had the same feelings about some of the exposed area on that hike as I did!

Bowlder, no I didn't post a trip report. I had planned to spend six night/7 days there but spent only 4 days. The first two days the wind was howling so I didn't go up to Granite Dome. Lots of smoke in the air from some fire. Lots of pack trains on the last day with more coming in heading to Emigrant Lake with lots of hunters. Deer season opened on Sat. Started seeing alot of people and with hooting and hollering all night long so I got out of there. I guess I was just wasn't having very much fun this time. Fly-fishing sucked with the wind. I was so eager to get of that place that I hiked from Emigrant Lake to the resort just under six hours (15 miles?)

The thing with offspring out there, you worry about the smallest problems. Like your kids sucking on sticky tree sap for one. Imagine that!

Plus, the kids in their moccasins just run in all directions with their hair on fire. Hard to keep up.

Probably won't get any easier either.

it doesn't get easier, but the rewards are far more than the hardships involved with parenting

Great pictures and report! I enjoyed seeing the toddlers in the carriers... Amazing what fun hair can be for little chubby fingers isn't it? :-)
Grouse? I've never seen one standing still... They always wait until I get within inches of them and then take off and scare the bejeebers of me... I think grouse must have a great sense of humor.. I imagine them saying "shhh.. here she comes.. shhh.. wait.. she's almost here.. shhh.. wait.. OK NOW!!!

LOL! Exactly. When one went into orbit, I probably launched a couple feet. At least.

If feels like you're being torpedoed; kind of like a depth charge explosion. Only more sudden. The sound of their lift off is quite violent.
