“I have to make a decision TODAY on some major backpacking gear...a new vehicle to get me to the trailheads... so my question to you folks out there....

is $13500 a fair price on a 2000 Subaru Forester L with 33000 miles on it, in mint condition?

It has a towing package, and running board upgrade, clean carfax report etc...

“om, retail on that in the richmond area would be around $15,500. so i don't think they are trying to take you. if you are buying it from a private owner, you should be able to get it a few thousand under retail.”

“As far as reliability -- and typical breakdowns for certain makes of cars -- check this out. I found it very useful (and it really made me think I should get a Jeep Cherokee vs. a Grand Cherokee due to types of expensive breakdowns)
