For what it's worth, big A is wrong about the Healthy Familes health insurance for undocumented kids. They don't qualify.

It is a circus. California is what is wrong with this country. Me, me, me, me, me. No US.

I agree with Navi on the debate. Mclintock and Comejo were obviously the best spoken of their positions in the debate.

That said, I can't believe either one of them will win this election.

You know it’s nothing but a circus when a state gubernatorial election is broadcast nation wide.

I liked when Ahhhnold said he had the perfect role for Arianna in "Terminator 4".

So, did anyone throw a chair?

There was a little good stuff in between Arianna throwing mud at everyone...

Bustamane agreed that they knew they were spending more than was coming in, I thought that was quite an admission for someone who was part of those decisions.

McClintock was the only respectable candidate there. Agree withy him or not on issues, he's consistent, ethical and knowledgeable. No games.

Camejo is a socialist who would fare better in Sweden (I love how the guys who always talk about Universal HealthCare being available in so many other countries forget to mention that you have to wait for months to get an appointment there!)

Arianna is only after pulicity so she can sell more books.

Bustamante is an underhanded, slimy politician who doesn't seem to be bothered at all that even liberal courts decided he couldn't use his Indian Gaming millions in his campaign... he thinks anything is OK, no moral compass.

Arnold is an actor, nuff said.

California is the land of "gimmee gimmee gimmee" with no sense of accountability or personal responsibility on the part of too much of our electorate.

Fortunately, it was "Back to School Night" for my daughter and I only saw the first 15 minutes.

But, abc7 polls here reported that Huffington hurt herself the most and McClintock helped himself the most. Bustamonte hurt himself a little and Arnold helped himself a little. (Note: abc7 polls don't mean that much to me because I am not convinced they are unbiased).

They also indicated that Schwarzenegger is still ahead of McClintock.

Newspaper responses this morning were mixed, but interesting. A lot of people don't like Huffington's voice and Arnold's agressiveness. Seems like a lot of people look at personalities and not positions. A big concern among Republicans, of course, is Arnold and Tom splitting the Republican vote.

The real smear campaigns are about to begin. That is what we do well the last two weeks in California elections.

Dang kids!

I have to disagree with Wanderer on health care. Comejo is no more a socialist than any left-leaning politician, and there DOES need to be healthcare reform in the US.

Mclintock voiced his views very well, and I appreciate that, since mine are in such opposition to his, and I had been considering giving him my vote.

Luckily I was at work so I didn't have to suffer through watching that #&%!$. How am I supposed to make an intellegent choice when all the diplomats are idiots?

McClintock was the most credible candidate.

That means he does not have a chance in California.

Actually Phaeddy I do agree that we need substantial healthcare reforms. I just don't think a single-payer, Universal program is the way to go.

Wanderer, Tricare is a specialty of my company's and if were were to, as a state, offer a service like it to californians, companies could bid on it in the same manner. There would be competition in the delivery systems and contracting bids, so it wouldn't be a great stretch to actually put something like this through.

Special interest (read HMO) lobbies will be dead set against it, though...

I could actually go for something like that, and I believe that's where we should end up.

My understanding though, is that Camejo wants a government sponsored, single-payer program similar to Canada & other counries that offer Universal plans to their citizenry. The problem with those is that, unlike your example, they are non-competitive. If there is nowhere else for the consumer to go then we've killed competition and service will ultimately decline.

You can use the US Postal system, or, you use FED-X, UPS, AirBorne, etc. Each has their place, and I'm glad we have choice.

See, I'm pro-choice!!! LOL

California can't afford to pay for it's teachers, police, and freeways. Why are you goobers debating Government health care?

:)

He might be for universal health care in the US, which is one thing, but in running for governor of California, he would have to allow for our current socio-political climate.

Obviously, a state with universal health care in a country without it would be at a distinct economic disadvantage.

A state with a viable public healthcare insurance, though, attracts business and populace.

BTW, sometime on the trail, we'll have to talk about healthcare and how it relates to violent crime. It's interesting.
