Violin, I wasn't aware that you really backpack. :-)

-we all crave protien after a backpacking trip like burgers, cheese, and eggs because we are so protien diffecent after a few days of pasta and rice. Hard cheese, beef jerky and Metrix Bars combined with a red meat dinner the night before really help. I allso try to tank (with water) up before hitting the trail.

Actually.....
I crave quiet....and more time to enjoy it...after the trip ends, just driving my car seems like a loud rock concert...what I crave most then is a return to the silence I just left....

First - stop at the local supermarket and get a 1/2 gallon of orange juice (the kind with no added sugar). I chug it down while driving home.

Second - a hot shower at home with my girlfriend. She just washes my back . . . honestly, that's all she does!!!

Ice Tea, speak for yerself buddy, I eat more protein on the trail than I do at home.

I want deep fried anything (cheese, fries, fish, okra, calamari...whatever!) and pop. Icy cold cola. I usually don't want to see my kiddo until after I've had the post hike meal, then the longing to be home kicks in.

Ltwt: Maybe she's in yer dreams, Daddy! ;) (giggle)

First things first, setting down in the drivers seat of my pickup, which is way comfortable, and then moving at more than three miles an hour using only one foot.

It always amazes me how comfortable a car seat is after a hiking trip. It also never fails to amaze me how many odd crunching noises come from the region of my hips and knees when I get out of said seat after an hour drive.

I crave a Coke. Must be the sugar. I always leave one in my jeep(s) or car after a hike. Warm is OK. I only bring beer on canoe trips where weight is rarely a problem. Once, a buddy put a 6 pack in my young daughter's pack. She was PO'd.

I used to hike with soda, but sugared water just makes me thirstier. Now I just bring water or sport drink. Sometimes a lemonade packet.

I always bring baby wipes with my toilet paper. Great stuff.

I also cut the handle off my vehicle key & use black electrical tape to fasten it to an accesssible bar under my car. With a little road grime it is very difficult to find. My brother-in-law is notorious for misplacing his keys. I've snapped the antenae off my hardtop wrangler more than once to get in myself.

OK, OK! Sometimes I have found myself hiking out in deep mental meditation using the mantra, "Taco Bell...Taco Bell...Taco Bell...".

There, am I still wierd?
